Are the differences in word choice regional? Generational, perhaps?
What's your go-to phrase to express your incredulity at the obviousness of another person's statement? Vote and leave a comment after the jump.
And if you also add the word "no" to the term, as in:
"Geez, this poll sure is stupid and pointless."
"No duh."
-then feel free to enlighten us about that as well.

I'm strictly a "duh" man. It's just how my mama raised me, I guess.
Derp. With the customary "I'm a fucktard" hand gestures
"Well no shit asshole." - said in just so cranky voice. Stating the obvious is deeply upsetting and demands an angry reaction. The word 'asshole' is sometimes left unsaid because it's assumed.
This should be an "assign 3 to the most frequently-used, 2 to the second most frequently-used and 1 to the most seldom-used" type of survey -- I use all 3 (and perhaps a few others) in various situations. But "duh" is definitely the one I use the most. "Doi" (we spelled it "doy") was the biggest one back in the 80's around here, though.
(Northern California, by the way)
Good point, Bile, but I'm not sure I can do a poll like that with this code creator. Guess I should think these dumb polls through a bit more next time. I mean, "derp, I'm a fucktard."
Nice to see i'm having a positive influence on your vocabulary Jeem.
I'm fifty-five years old and tend to use all three expressions, depending on the nature of the idiocy! Just whichever one seems most appropriate at the time. Is this caused by being a baby boomer?
I've never heard anyone say (or spell) "doy" in my life. Where did that come from?
I remember DOY from Elementary School. And I think it is/was a cartoon SFX.
Gotta vote for DUH though.
Yeah, I thought I'd seen it spelled "doi" somewhere, but maybe "doy" is correct.
I guess the other problem with spelling it "doi" is that if you're French, you'll pronounce it "dwah" and Monsieur Fucktard will have no idea you're making fun of him.
Well, that explains it. When I was in elementary school, we said "sock it to me".
I'm a 'No Shit, Sherlock' kinda guy usually....although a good 'duh' here and there works too.
"Doy", or "doi", if you will, started out (this was in ~1980) as "doy now" in the local lexicon, then was inevitably shortened to simply "Doy". Though I am at a loss to explain the origins of the quip, a Wikipedia search for "doy" brings up "Duke of York", which has a link to "Duke of Albany", and I attended Albany High School. Coincidence? I think not. A similar search for "doi" informs us that this is the word for "mountain" in Northern Thailand. I leave it to you tom make the connection...
By the way Sheriff Pablo, "derp" or "der" are current favorites of mine as well. To add one more to the pot, when faced with a particularly ignorant, self-obvious or unintelligible statement I like to respond with "snuh?". Thank you, Simpsons!
