To be accurate that should be called "The Eternal Backslide". It's a dance move that has been around for a long time. Marcel Marceau used it in his act for 40 years.

Jackson was taught how to backslide by dancer Jeffrey Daniel. You can see Daniel's influence on Jackson at:
