Saying goodbye to trolls, hello to OUR trolls

Over the last weeks, we've opened up multiple ways to register to comment at YesButNoButYes. Aside from registering for your own account here, you can now use Facebook, AIM, Yahoo, Google and a bunch of others. Logging in by Twitter will also be coming soon.

At the same time, we're fighting ever increasing amounts of spam from anonymous comment bots., and troll comments from people who are brave enough to criticize, but not enough to sign their own names to it.

Given all the new ways to login, I've taken the unilateral decision to phase out the option to comment from anonymous sources. It may cut down a little on the conversation here, but I hope it'll help build community. So slowly, we can wave goodbye to those little grey speech bubbles. If anyone has any objections, now would be a good time to say so (of course, you'll have to register to be able to do so :)

That's all. Coming soon, a new feature - YBNBY BoobCam. (Not really, but I wish....)

The Internet is a wonderful thing

The mystery of our recurring Caption Competition finally revealed, in this clip from Funky Forest. A clip which towards the end, reminds me of this....

Tweetboard
200907251616.jpg

We're trying out a new widget on the home page and some interior pages, called Tweetboard. It's a tab on the left hand side that brings up the Twitter feed. As most of our tweets are automated repeats of the stories here, that may not seem useful. However, there's an interesting "reply" feature, which threads comments after an initial tweet, and links back to our site. I'd suggest that those of you with twitter accounts can use this function is you want to leave a comment on a Breakfast Link, which is - apparently - an oft requested feature.

And so, yet another useless timewaster comes to YBNBY.

Problem Child

"Orphan" ** (out of four): Often-histrionic, quasi-Gothic entry in the long line of "evil child" movies suffers from an identity crisis. It's not quite horror, not quite a thriller and not quite worth seeing.

Regarding "Orphan", an often-histrionic, quasi-Gothic entry in the long line of "evil child" movies, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that if you plunk down $12 for this one, you're going to see two movies for the price of one. The bad news is that only one of those is worth seeing, and it's not the one being advertised on the movie posters.

For the Love of Strange

I am a man of my word.*

And the other day after YBNBY Loyal 77 member Rando Aces took issue with me onr merits of "oddness" of the Doberman video.

So I said Rando, send me your weird and we'll see if it holds up.
It do. It do.

So here's 2 choice cuts from Rando and me, to you.

"Dance Of The Sparkler"

And the very strange and random "Gonorrhea!"

(*about 82% of the time.)

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 6]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
