The Cigarette Trick

A novel way to light a cigarette from Barnaby the Juggler.

Can you spot how he does it?

He caught the match in his mouth, too, then lit the cigarette with the match. The Camel non-filtered cigarette is only just a little longer than the match but he probably put the cigarette farther in his mouth than the match. I'm not saying I could do it even with a lot of practice, I'm just saying I think this is how he did it.

Seriously Baier, you say that like there's some sleight of hand involved.

2 cigarettes popped from the pack, single hidden in the left hand with obvious in right, hidden covered by left middle finger, transferred to right hand when pack is lit, hitting and lighting the hidden cigarette, which is caught in mouth, faced toward camera, then spit out.

Not nearly as impressed with the how as I am with the presentation and delivery.

In response to Michael, it is a legitimate feat done with an ordinary cigarette and an ordinary kitchen match. Both are simply tossed from behind the back and caught in the mouth. This feat was performed by Bobby May and a couple others in vaudeville days. If you want to see it in slow motion, check out my buddy in Holland, Superwoody, who also has the trick posted on YouTube. Cheers, and thanks for all your comments. Barnaby The Juggler

Thanks for chiming in Barnaby... Yeah, this is a somewhat common trick, albeit difficult to pull off. (As Barnaby said, he had a beard before he learned this trick) I can't go behind the back like he does, but I can toss a cig in the air, catch the match, flip and light in my mouth. It just takes practice and a willingness to get burned a few times. You can also light with a "flaming finger" just by hiding the match behind a finger like the magician I linked to.

It's a great trick to pull in a bar, but BEFORE you get a few in you.
