We've all been there.
The phone rings and on the other end is a telemarketer.
Well this guy wasn't very pleased to get a call. And that's putting it lightly.

Alright!
Makes you wonder how many times this guy has gone through the same thing before... and how many times will it take before they flag his account to NOT CALL.
I was getting calls several times a week from BellSouth trying to get me to go back to DSL, even though I had a terrible experience with it. I was on the state "do not call" directory, but there is an exemption for companies you have an account with, and I still had a land line then. No matter how many times I told them off, they still called. From India.
So I finally relented, said I would take it if I got a good enough deal. I negotiated several aspects of the offer and set up an appointment. The installer came out, but had no record of the terms the telemarketer agreed to. He wasted several hours trying to confirm what I wanted from my home (put on hold many times) and finally left without hooking me up because no one had any record of the terms I accepted and would not bend on just a few dollars. I'm sure his wasted time cost the company a bundle -more than the discounts I was demanding. They never called me again.
Just so much easier to hang up--or use your caller ID to not answer...
as annoying as it is to get calls, I do feel sorry for anyone who is just trying to feed their kids by working as a telemarketer...if they would just make prostitution legal, no one would have to do this thankless job anymore...
(I hope that I am fortunate enough in life to not have to do telemarketing, because no one is ever happy to hear from you)(if anyone has worked in this capacity and has had a pleasant experience, feel free to correct me--did you make a shut-in's life a little happier, etc?)
When you do get a call from a telemarketer, one of the things you can do is file a complaint against them. The FTC's donotcall list is a good one but its private and you can't lookup phone numbers who are calling you, so you dont' know if others have posted a complaint. You can lookup telemarketers and post a complaint callcatalog.com
I worked as a telemarketer previously and now as a debt collector. It's not like we WANT to be calling you to annoy you, it's our way of paying our bills and putting food on the table for our family. I agree it's annoying, but just hang up instead of being a jerk to the person whose job it is to call you. If the person is rude or harrassing, by all means speak to their manager, but when it's someone reading off the script they have to in order to keep their job, think for a few seconds before being an obnoxious idiot like the guy in the video.
Hey Joel,
Do you have any interesting stories of rants like this based on your call center experience?
Thanks to ShinyHappyHead via Twitter for a funny telemarketer prank.

I have had enough of telemarketing calls.
Try to call them to ask an account cancellation. They'll try their best to end the call as soon as possible, without solving your problem.
