From The Sports Desk...
Super Bowl champs Pittsburgh Steelers made the traditional trip to the White House this week. The gratuitous photo-op happens numerous times a year for any team or individual that wins anything. Champion Cup Stacker? Come on down to Pennsylvania Ave. and give the Pres a personalized jersey.
Steelers linebacker James Harrison did not participate in the Rose Garden ceremony. Why? Well, I've listened to his reasoning, but I still don't follow it.
Huh. I ... uh ... what?
The best part is Harrison's math where 4 or 5 more Super Bowls equals 10 or 11 more rings. They are so good the Steelers get 2 rings per championship.
You know, Pulitzer Prize winning writers are often welcomed to the White House. President Obama, I'll show up when I don't win one.

Stumble This

According to Janeane Garofolo, it is because James Harrison is racist.
If the Steelers get 4 or 5 more SB wins the organization as a whole will have 10-11 Championships. Maybe that's what he was getting at.
He's being consistent anyway. I heard on PTI he didn't go to the Bush WH after their win over the Seahawks a couple of years back.
Not sure which football star made the bigger mistake this week. Harrison or the Jets Marc Sanchez.
What did Sanchez do? Other than sign with the Jets?
Well he did a fashion photo shoot for GQ. Probably a good thing for him, financially but the dude hasn't won a thing and he's just setting himself up to be even more of a target for linebackers.

GQ gave Tom Brady the month off?
Good one JW.
He might be referring to winning the conference championship on the way to to the Superbowl. So it's not that the Steelers are so good they win 2 rings, every team that wins the Superbowl wins 2 rings (and the losers only go home with one $200,000 ring, LOSERS).
But still, what a prick.
Come on fellas, he isn't talking about Conference Titles or accumulative Super Bowls, you think James can do that kind of ring math on the fly?
It's just stupidity for us to laugh at. Good times.
Isn't this the dude that plays without a helmet?
Someone seems just a tad confused about who is honoring whom, here.
Solid point, Ron.
I don't know why you are all hating.
This makes perfect sense. If I got invited to the White House because I won the superbowl I wouldn't go because If Johnny won the superbowl he would get invited too. It wouldn't matter if it was Bush or Obama I would stand my ground because I'm not showing a double standard like the Whitehouse. Either you love me more that you love Johnny no matter what. You don't just make me special when I do something you make me special all the time, and even if Johnny is special you don't make him special just because I am the ultimate special and I'm not going to treat you or anyone special because I have that right.
What I'm trying to say is I am afraid of flying and if you will let me drive my car I will come.
You certainly are ... special.
*zing*
Well, while Harrison wasn't at the Whitehouse, one of his Pit Bulls attacked his kid...
"Per Ari Hait of WTAE, Harrison’s son was transported to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with “severe” dog bite injuries. The injuries reportedly are not life threatening."
A shame, and an avoidable one at that. Guy is a total moron.
Great balls of fire, Jungle is right:
