Goonies 2009

No. No. No. There is no sequel, prequel or remake planned of this 80s classic Richard Donner film. Yet.

But back in March the original cast did reunite for a trip down memory lane.
Can you guess which one is Chunk?

Screencave has the article.

I'd love a Goonies sequel. Here's my idea for the plot.

A research vessel finds the remains of One-Eyed Willy's ship somewhere off the coast of Oregon. Some of the original cast members are contacted as consultants on the exploration of thesunken ship ship and are brought out on the ocean in a vessel. (Insert evil company here) Using submarines and robots, and with the Goonies' knowledge of the layout of the ship, they find the jewels and also another map. The Goonies realize the company is up to no-good and they hope to profit from the treasure rather than put it in a museum.

Once the treasure is raised, along with the new map, the Goonies steal the map and (somehow) get off the ship. They soon realize that it's a map to another one of One-Eyed Willy's hidden treasures. They're in a race to find the new treasure before the company and, either give it to a museum, or hide it permanently.

Adventure, hilarity, and suspense ensue. But good luck getting Brolin to sign back up.

They'll need help to escape the ship.
What about the totally until-the-time-of-need ignored badass cooker, who has a expressionless face and ties his hair in a ponytail, who ends up being a ultramaster in 15 kinds of martial arts and a former mariner... just wondering...

As long as Sean Astin gets to do a speech about how it's "Our Time" I'm down with this.

said Baierman on May 8, 2009 12:52 PM.

The "our time" speech is already written. And as for the helpful (and quiet) Cook role... that's just a given. Someone needs to fill the Sloth shoes. (Of course, there will be the required "get the gang to gather 'round the old Sloth grave" scene.

RIP John Matuszak.

Who's playing the female characters?

I was a big Kerri Green fan. She should have done more work. Whos the modern equivalent I wonder...

A couple years ago the family went for a holiday at Cannon Beach and Seaside Oregon. We showed The Goonies to my nephews. Big hit. Then I put together a treasure hunt from "One Eyed Willie." Complete with a bottle found on the ocean that had the parchment map with skull and crossbones and a drawing of the Oregon Coast on it, clues to four locations, then a pirate treasure chest buried in the sand filled with candy and pirate themed toys.

Yep, I'm the best uncle ever.

RIP John Matuszak... Bless his heart.

Okay, the Goonies is all about the search for One Eyed Willies treasure.

that is wrong. So very wrong.
