Some local Polish politicians are upset over the money a zoo spent on an new male elephant who is apparently not "into" females.
Yet.

"We didn't pay 37 million zlotys ($11 million) for the largest elephant house in Europe to have a gay elephant live there," Michal Grzes, a conservative councillor in the city of Poznan in western Poland.

Conventional wisdom seems to indicate Ninio the elephant prefers to play for the same team. He has, after all, been shipped around from a few different zoos because of aggressive behavior towards females and he prefers to hang around with the males.
I say cut the dude a break, he's only 10 and the sexual maturity of male elephants is 14. When I was 10, I'd rather spit on a girl than try to swap spit. Michal, relax, don't you have some liberals to out as socialists?

In case you're wondering this is not the first suspected gay animal. Silo and Roy, a gay penguin couple at Central Park Zoo, also attempted to "incubate a rock" before being given their own egg.
