Meet Susan Boyle: 47 years old. Unemployed. Never been kissed.
So she dreamed a dream and shocked Simon, Britain and now, the world.
This was the first time I've given a standing ovation to youtube video. Wow.

I tried to put this up last night but couldn't find the "embedable" video. When I saw it, as arrogant and cynical and snobby as I am, the hairs on my arms stood up. Amazing.
Scotland can bring it, kids.

I'm right at the intersection of "Holy crap, that was stunningly good", "How cool for this apparently nice woman, she probably doesn't even realize at this point how much her life is about to change", and "Isn't that convenient for this TV show, that they just happen to have this total unknown on, who's got singing talent out the ass and kind of a sappy, sentimental personal story, and her video just happens to go massive crazy worldwide viral overnight, and this is the first episode of the season, so they're going to be able to milk this for ratings for the rest of the season."
Anyone care to believe all this was carefully planned and meticulously executed according to plan?
Is it possible that this is a result of good editing & crafty staging? Sure.
Heck I wouldn't be surprised if it was faked and she was lip syncing- but I liked the whole theater if it juls
Aw bless her!
It's like Eddie Murphy once said:
"Sing ! That's the key to it. You don't even have to be able to talk. Just sing and get famous."
I hope she goes far.
And all the cynical looks too... you have to hand it to the Brits for great theatre.
Theater or not, it was astounding.
I'd like to see again the face of a little skunk who was rolling her eyes in disdain when Susan was telling her tale before she started singing.
Maybe they have done that as a "don't judge a book by its cover" moral lesson, or whatever, but it really slapped me in the face. I was expecting a good presentation, since the comments I read was that she had surprised the judges and the audience, but I wasn't expecting what I saw/heard.
She's like a huge banner written "STFU" aiming Simon and Piers, known for beating the crap off of the contestants.
Fake or not, i dig it.
I can see it now, her coming on stage at the royal variety, thrusting her hips at the queen, then belting out an amazing piece of song
What is that song?
Sal, it's from the broadway show Les Miserables
Unfortunately, it turns out that that's Celine Dion, who's been having some trouble with her UHT.
Bairman, it wasn't faked. The BBC interviewed her and showed her singing at home in front of a mirror -a cappella, no less. And there's a recording of her singing Cry Me A River from a 1999 charity album on YouTube.
In the whole 4 plus minutes of the song they only showed about 12 seconds of her lip syncing, err singing
Go Susan, you are the best.
You know Al, the microphone screen was kinda wide which could have hid her lip syncing.
& they did make it a point to show they were playing a song (press play) at the beginning.
Hmmm....
Sure... and so do all the contestants in Britain's got Talent. You can see they pushing play before all they start singing.
Meh... No lip sync as far as I can see.
Can someone please find Susan Boyle an HONEST and CONTRACT SAVVY agent and get her signed with an HONEST and GENEROUS label, and RECORDED ASAP? The WORLD is waiting for her first release!!!!!
