Now, I'll be the first to admit that I have a fear of gimmicks. As soon as I spot one, I begin wondering what the gimmick is hiding. And MINI's new gimmick gave me pause. Their new MINI Chameleon changes colors depending on the weather. It's the hypercolor t-shirt of the 2000's. According to this article from DesignVerb:
On a rainy day, the car's paint brightens to improve visibility while on a sunny day, it lightens to reflect heat and cool down the vehicle. We'll have to see how this one pans out after it's debut in Singapore in June.

Echo, the hypercolor t-shirt of the 2000s? Nice comparison...but does this mean that when you're nervous, the car will change color around the front wheel area (what I would guess would be the armpits of the car--since the wheels are the arms/legs)?
So if you got pulled by a cop for speeding, the car would admit your guilt for you?
And if the cop had you step out of the car and assume the stance, you would be left with handprints on it?
Sorry--just getting vivid Generra flashbacks...
Way to throw down the "Generra" reference. Damn, duly impressed.
...and please tell me they won't rip off karma chameleon for their ads....
"mini, mini, mini, mini, mini chameleon....you come and go, you come and go-oh-oh"
(that was cheesy...I am now hanging my head in shame)
Take a walk around the block and only come back when you've had time to think about what you've done.
Yessir.
but you know, driving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red, Gold, and Green? Those are already the colors of the stop lights Sarcky.
hmmm...well, it sounds like it will be the perfect theme song then!!!
"driving will be easy since the colors are like my dream"?
I can see it now..scores of people wandering around the mall parking lot because they don't know what friggin' color their car is.
Maybe they'll come with matching mood rings to identify them with.
