And in honor of this joyous celebration, I put two questions out to the reading audience. 1) What's your favorite ingredient to add to a grilled cheese? And 2) What's your favorite movie scene of al time to watch while you're really, really high?
My answers: 1) Bacon, tomato and spanish olive. 2) The puking scene from Scary Movie II
And with that, any hope of a future senate run hurls itself toward the jagged rocks below.

The meow scene in Super Troopers. And bacon.
A hamburger patty, grilled onions, and more cheese.
I can't answer the second question, but it took me a few minutes to figure out why. I am SO OLD that back when I was in the habit of getting high, we didn't have movies on demand. You just watched what was at the theater (one screen) and maybe it would come around again in a few years.
However, the original Star Wars (episode four) makes me want to drink alcohol and relive the memories.
Considering that it isn't a grilled cheese sandwich unless it has bacon on it, I'll list what I add after the cheese and bacon:
More bacon.
Then a thin slice of ham.
Never been high, so I'll tell you how I watch movies sober that you are supposed to be high during:
Ralph Bakshi's Wizards: While outfiting original He-man figures in authentic and homemade prairie dresses.
Wizard of Oz w/ Dark Side of the Moon synched soundtrack: While eating a stack of alternating pan-fried frozen waffles and hamburger patties with syrup and pickles.
Freaks: While polishing the good silver.
Wizard of Speed and Time: Handcuffed to gallon jugs of cat litter, pounding a four pack of Java Monster.
Buckaroo Banzai: While duct-taping the triggers of a slot racer set down and licking a 9V battery.
Nosferatu: While reclining in a cedar chest, using an emory board as a tongue depressor.
Reefer Madness: With MST3K shadow puppets in front of the screen and reading Ice by Ice: Vanilla Ice in His Own Words.
Pink Floyd's The Wall: In an SS uniform.
Triple Decker Grilled Cheese for me. Add another layer of cheese and bread. Bacon sounds good too.
For kicks, grill it with an iron.
Movies: Platoon. Full Metal Jacket. Sofie's Choice. (Those films are freaking funny.)
I'm kind of partial to cheese.
May I suggest the Movie: No country for old men or House of a Thousand Corpses, while taking acid.
Australia while smoking snorting or injecting Ice.
Crank while smoking weed.
I don't know, I don't get high but those may be good combinations?
Oh, oh: Free Willy while huffing Dippin Dots.
Dave, oxycontin counts.
Dave is more of an oxytocin kind of guy--a lover, not a fighter....a cuddler, not a stir-up-the-crap arguing type....
Ingredient: Sun dried tomato pesto
Movie Scene: The beginning of Up In Smoke
The key is to get good bread and to grill it just so. Anyway...
1. American/cheddar/mozzarella, roma tomatos, spinach
2.
a) Fast Times at Ridgemont High - anything with Phoebe.
b) Whatever's on VH1
I didnt' realise that Oxycontin counted.
I don't use oxycontin and watch videos. I usually just crush a few up, snort them, put on some Pink Floyd, and lay on the floor naked.
My favorite ingredient to add to a grilled cheese sandwich is another grilled cheese sandwich.
Mushrooms and Fantasia make for a great evening.
sliced pickles! or jalepenos with a pepper jack grilled cheese. double decker.
have nothing to contribute to the high movie list
Could you please correct the spelling of "Grilled" in the title of your post, Jellio? Thanks!
Space Cowgirl, if by reading Griiled you understood he meant Grilled... So what?!?! Grammar police?
I agree with Inna on the jalapeños.
A double decker with 2 huge slices of fresh white cheese, ham, bacon, bacon, bacon, mustard, jalapeños, bacon, semi-toasted buttered bread (make it crispy in the outside and still soft in the inside) and small slices of bacon on the top.
