The Times They Are A Changin'
At a family gathering at the weekend, I got into a long conversation with my wife's cousin's husband about changing times. I'm sure we've all had those discussions, and it centered around "how safe are kids on the street when they walk to school?" compared to when were were kids, and speculated on how much the "always-on media" was fanning the flames of panic in the community compared to the real risk.
And then I saw this clip above, which shows cam footage of a drunken teacher cavorting in a classroom, in a fairly innocuous way, but obviously not innocuous enough to escape national news coverage.
And I remembered the story of the teacher's stripping girlfriend....

When I was 17, I attended a high school in the English countryside, and had formed a friendship with a 16 year old girl in the neighboring town of Peterborough. I remember the friendship wasn't very intimate (though not for lack of trying), and one weekend I went over to stay at her house.

She'd been invited to a party and I went along with her. There were several of her friends there, and also some of her teachers - in fact, mostly adults (ie 30 plus) Alcohol flew (remember, this is England, where a bunch of 17 year olds drinking beer at a party is much more acceptable, even with teachers present), and while I don't remember getting drunk, I'm sure we were working up quite a buzz.

My friend's science teacher (who's name I forget) had brought along his new girlfriend, and she seemed to be getting pretty drunk. Then as she stood in the room dancing, I remember she started to take off her clothes one by one. The response from the other teachers? They started to clap and cheer her on.

As a 17 year old male with an overabundant sex drive (as if those things don't always go together) I remember watching and laughing and clapping along until finally she finally pulled off her knickers and started waving them over her head. And that's when she lunged for me.

All I know is that somehow she flipped me over, got onto my back, and started grinding her naked crotch into me shouting "I've wanted to do this all night". After maybe 30 seconds (in other words, quickly but not too quickly) the other teachers pulled her off and got her dressed.

Looking back now, with the wisdom of years, I'm kind of surprised they let it go that far, but I remember at the time my only reaction being "This is the best story i've had to tell in my life EVER!"

There's no point to this story, except to finally tell it again after 23 years, and to suggest that we should all just calm the hell down about every little "scandal" we read (TEACHER PARTIALLY EXPOSES HER BUTT!!!). Just as we've created a nation of asthmatics by sterilizing our homes of dust, we also run the risk of creating a generation of children so immunized from pretty harmless eccentricity that they'll never be strong enough to face the real world.

Scara,

We've read your story ... comparing dates, timeframes and previous stories. With the information we now have, we can only come to one conclusion:

Cindy is a Cougar.

Sincerely,

Actually I miscounted, that happened 28 years ago.

And no, she's quite a bit younger than me.

How come I've never heard this story before??

I did watch the video of the drunken, dancing teacher and it seemed pretty innocuous. Did they even have video of her grinding against the students and baring her butt? I wonder if it even happened. I am also doubting the girl who was interviewed who said she was "scared". She probably egged the teacher on..

Still, I'd be pretty upset if this happened to one of my children. Granted, they'd probably love it as would their father..

Meh, 23 ... 28 ... doesn't matter.

It's still a heckuva "How I Met Your Mother" story.

Thanks for sharing, Scara.

Cindy, I'm with you on that.

It's so easy to go to the news saying how scared you were then and how afraid of retaliations you are right now, but I bet a huge money on her taunting the teacher for more...
Yes, it's a bad behaviour from the teacher, and as this isn't the first time she has an drunk incident--and I believe it's not only the second time too--the school board should have taken measures to help her out of alcohol, or at least keep it under control.

I would not like to see it happening at my daughters classroom too, but 8th graders are not this innocent to be so scared as the girl said she was.

Tim, monkey detective, if you need help on your investigation on that, just call me.

With all the other problems going on in the world, THIS crap is the best that the news can come up with....

Sometimes i swear they either try to hard or don't try hard enough. I can't figure out which.
