Dan Meth has done it again, this time turning his pop-culture inspired designs to the world of sitcoms. Specifically, where sitcoms take place. I'm a bit peeved that he placed
Who's the Boss, which took place in my hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut under "NYC Suburbs". Up until Tony and Angela moved in, our only claim to fame was having 6 of Connecticut's 18 Superfund sites. Such is life.
Nice map.
Missing are:
American Dad (Langley Falls, Virginia, which is probably just a thinly cloaked Langly, VI)
3rd rock from the sun (Rutherford, Ohio, fictional town probably near Akron).
Bob Newhart Show (Chicago)
Monk (San Francisco)
Psych (Santa Barbara)
House (Princeton, NJ)
And more, I'm sure, anyone got some others?
Some I listed aren't really sitcoms, but so are many of the shows on the map.
Huh--I thought Charles in Charge was on the West Coast--where was it set?
M*A*S*H was supposedly shot in Korea but the place looks more like the Ozarks.
Also, I never knew where GOMER PYLE's army camp was based at.
Northern Exposure wasn't a sitcom and was filmed in Washington.
Not to split hairs but many of these shows aren't sitcoms at all.
In the pilot Gomer Pyle did basic at Parris Island, SC. By the end of the episode, Sgt. Carter took a transfer to Camp Pendleton to get away from Pyle - but Pyle got transferred too.
Suggestion for another post (if it wasn't covered another time): explore "The Tommy Westphall Universe".
chad, it's not about where they were filmed but about what state the characters lived in, so Northern Exposure was in Alaska.
and you're right, not a sitcom--but he needed an Alaska show....
just enjoy the coolness of the map--and don't worry so much about categorizing the shows...
whye aren't these here
good morning miami
sex in the city
24
24 definitely isn't a sitcom....
Where are the Simpsons? I don't see the Simpsons anywhere.
