When I posted The Daily Show clip of Stewart attacking CNBC because Rick Santelli bailed out on an appearance, I said this wouldn't be the last we hear of it. Right. Jim Cramer was obviously hurt, so he went on The Today Show and Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough to defend himself. His defense? Stewart is a comedian, so we shouldn't take him seriously. Yet he seems to have taken this very seriously. And Stewart becomes that much more of a household name.

Wow, way to circle the wagons guys. You really showed him! I'm sure Stewart was left curled up in a corner crying over that show of force. He'll think twice before he trifles with you again!
Ouch, who peed in Scarborough's Wheaties?
Cramer is a quack, and a pussy. Jogging around your desk, yelling, doesn't do anything to improve returns, but it amuses the viewers I guess.
Here's the difference between what Scarborough is talking about and what Stewart was doing. Santelli pretty much said that everyone who bought a house and is now losing it is a loser because they got caught up in the boom of the housing market, made bad decisions and now they deserve what they get. Stewart was just showing that these "experts" on CNBC were just as caught up as the average homeowner and made similar bad decisions as a result. Now the "experts" are getting bailed out of their bad decisions but don't want homeowners bailed out for theirs. That's bull crap. Yeah, people were stupid but that stupidity cut across the entire spectrum of the market.
Looks like someone got under some of Scarborough and Cramer's thin skin. Tee Hee.
First, as cdr points out, they miss the point of his piece. Then they argue against their strawman, and try to minimize Stewart as a comedian. Then comes the "ideologue" nonsense... Obama hasn't even been in office 100 days for lampooning purposes. However...

Looks to me like they're not afraid to go after both sides. And frankly, Obama hasn't done half the dumb crap Bush did. So, someone call me when Obama chokes on a pretzel while saying "nukular" and we can all join in the laughfest.
Whatever, it didn't take Jon Stewart to convince me that Scarborough is a douche and Cramer is an idiot. And as someone who has avid Fox watchers in his family, their little rant will speak to their base... The type of humorless people who have never seen Stewart's show.
The sad commentary here is that there are thousands whose only "news source" is the Daily Show. Ridiculous.
Cramer is the guest on tomorrow, Thursday's Daily Show.
That should be fun.
Jon Stewart attacks the hypocrisy of the news media. His statement the other day was that these financial channels claim they're the experts and they know what's going on... then when everything was collapsing, we were shown their true colors: they know nothing.
He nailed Bush constantly on policies, because they lied in a VERY obvious manner and he could SHOW it: Cheney: "I never said we'd be greeted as liberators" [cut to endless footage of Cheney saying "we will be greeted as liberators."] Scarborough is wrong: he's doesn't go after the mistakes a politician makes, he goes after their hypocritical statements and their obvious lies.
JW--the reason many people get their news from TDS, is because the networks aren't doing their job. There is a lot of truth in humor--TDS is hysterical and usually right on the money.
Jon Stewart is the most respectful interviewer on television. He asks intelligent questions, doesn't yell or accuse, and when the audience boos or yells at a right-wing guest, he sincerely tells them to settle down and show some respect. Something the "news" networks could learn from.
jw, just have to point out that there are many MORE people whose only news source is the National Enquirer or World Weekly News...
(I once knew an older woman, now deceased, who would quote "the paper" when she spoke...she meant the Enquirer)
At least Jon is intelligent...and in the days since 9/11, it helps to take a spoonful of funny or satire with our hard to swallow reality.*
(*not meant to be compared to swallowing of any other nature)
I don't know if it will happen, but I hear that Jim Cramer is supposed to be on The Daily Show Thursday.
I think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion and CNBC's anchors clearly don't understand Jon's underlying messages during the past 3 days - from questioning anchors' competence to their ability to perform quality journalism (i.e. questioning CEOs) to essentially feeding the whole financial bubble. Instead those anchors are trying to belittle Jon and suggest he has no insight regarding the financial crisis. In fact, he has made some pretty "deep" observations and suggestions that some of his highly experienced guests have even acknowledged. Quite sad to see CNBC to stoop to Fox's level. I'm glad I don't live in the States and have to be subjected to such crap...
Jon confirmed tonight that Cramer will be on Thursday... It's likely to stem the situation from getting way out of hand. Cramer's facial expressions on Joe's show even suggested that some people are taking this too seriously.
This is pretty sad. Up in arms against a fake news show - to do what, defend your credibility? hmmmm...
