To prepare for the digital television switch-over, The Simpsons aired their first ever HD episode last night. And, because the original title sequence, which is 20 years-old, was created in standard definition, they premiered their new and HD-ready version last night. Have they ruined a classic? Have they only improved it? Thoughts?

Seems like they did a nice job updating a classic. I like the subtle changes - barney under the leaves, the bus driver eating the plutonium, etc.
The couch bit I imagine will be shortened.
I think it was great.
I like it! Seems like they kept the basics but added a few nice details for the long-time geeks as well... anybody else notice the Tomacco juice and box of Mr. Sparkle being rung up at the grocery store? :)
I loved it! Nice to see some iconic additions to the classic. The couch part is long but I hope it's like that just for this first one and then they just get to the living room and do the old gags with the new intro.
Tomacco! Ewww...tastes like grandma....give me more! I loved it. Still keeps with the tradition set by the old analog standard.
No big deal with the intro sequence, but the writers have already ruined the show years ago. A gazillion pixels won't make up for poor writing.
