The Garden State has taken its fair share of licks over the years. I've been known to deal out a few "armpit of America" jokes here and there. And sure, I tend to roll up the windows and recirculate the air when I drive through New Jersey en route to greener pastures. But perhaps it's not the State that's to blame, but the people. This video, entitled
Guido Beach, gives a spectacular view of the denizens who haunt the fabled shores of New Jersey. My fear is that this will make it's way into a time capsule and be regarded as an accurate cross-section of American culture 500 years from now.

Did you know Bruce Springsteen is from New Jersey?
Jersey's not the armpit of america, it just happens to be unlucky enough to be "Downhill" from NYC. And we all know which direction the proverbial shit rolls.
That.Was.Awesome.
I live in flyover country but lived on the east coast for about a year. The sad part is they didn't have to look very hard to find these people.
We used to have an expression in Baltimore. Every few days some loon would be driving on the expressway, three or four lanes in each direction, and take a ninety degree turn and smash into the concrete median. What was that called? "A Jersey Lane Change."
I loved the video. Makes me glad I'm back in nowheresville.
This video exist outside of Facebook? I'm happily not a member of that site.
Growing up on long island, NY, I'd have to say we have a large concentration of Guidos too. perhaps they all vacation in jersey?
I'm from Jersey. There are not one, but TWO people from my hometown in this video (which is probably why I first saw it months ago). I feel bad because everyone I know from home did all of these things when they saw this: Hang their heads in shame, laugh their asses off, and go "yeah, that's about right." We do not deny that we have these people. But, um....yeah.
Having grown up on the Jersey shore, I'm familiar with these characters. We called them "Bennies"..Now I live in North Jersey and I get to spend every day surrounded by this type. I think when people think of New Jerseyans, they think of this type. That's pretty sad. :(
We have the same species in Australia along many of the northern beaches in Sydney. The embarrassing riots in Cronulla a few years back come to mind.
