From the Air III: Water Edition
12_apostles_ybnby.jpg
I thought we'd mix it up a bit and go with a theme this time. And with the majority of the planet covered with water, it wasn't a hard theme to come up with. For those of you unfamiliar with the game, after the jump you'll see 10 satellite images from Google Maps and each will have a central feature. In this case, that "feature" is a body of water or has to do with a body of water. Write down your answers in the comments section and see how you do. The winner gets nothing but praise and admiration from me and other readers of the site. Enjoy!

2. Niagara Falls
5. Hoover Dam (I recognized it from Transformers!)
8. Crater Lake, Oregon (I worked with a scientist who's specialty was impact craters, heh)

said Leonardo Carvalho on February 20, 2009 11:32 AM.

Tim's right on 4 but wrong on 7. (See above)

said Echowood on February 20, 2009 11:34 AM.

Sorry, didn't see that one ... I was looking at Leo's post thinking that #7 was still up in the air.

At first glance, I was sure that #6 was Lake Tahoe, but a look at the map says not.

I'll be looking at them a little more later today. The market is ripe for the pickin' ... I'm off to make some money.

And I suppose it's time for hints:
#3. If you surf, particularly on the West Coast, you'll know this place. Though, I doubt Tom Cruise has ever surfed it.

#6. This lake feeds a river of grass.

said Echowood on February 20, 2009 4:09 PM.

Didn't Fernando get 6? Looks like OkeeChoBee.

said E on February 20, 2009 4:19 PM.

Yeah, I didn't "approve" his comment quick enough. So we're just waiting on #3.

#3 is Mavericks at Half Moon Bay, CA

said pdxme on February 20, 2009 4:59 PM.

pdxme- with the come-from-behind win! Nicely done. #3 was definitely the hardest of the bunch.

said Echowood on February 20, 2009 5:01 PM.

Thanks for the hint!
