From the Air II

My last From the Air challenge seemed to go over well. Though, I felt that with the added hints it made it a bit easy. And so, my geographically inclined friends, I'm giving you a new challenge albeit one without hints. Enjoy!

#1 - Three Gorges Dam, China

said Tim on February 17, 2009 10:31 AM.

DAMN... very impressed. Tim, I didn't think anyone would get the Three Gorges Dam.

The thing that surprises me about that picture is the color of the water. Maybe it's the haze.

#3 reminds me of a diamond mine, like the Big Hole in Africa ...

said Tim on February 17, 2009 11:02 AM.

Tim- yeah, I think it's attributable to haze. It didn't have the best satellite image. #3 is definitely the Devil's Tower.

said Echowood on February 17, 2009 11:23 AM.

I'm surprised no one has gotten #7 yet. Admittedly, #9 is very hard and #10, while one of the biggest landmarks in the world, probably doesn't look like much from the air.

9. Is weird. What's with those waterway cul de sacs? Why would you want them?
10. Its all brown. What is it, made of wood? Famous desert landmark? Hmm.

said E on February 17, 2009 12:29 PM.

OK E, only because you're kicking ass at this, I'll give you some hints.

#9, What sort of industrial plant would NEED those waterway cul de sacs. Perhaps for shipping? Perhaps for waste removal?

#10, This isn't in a desert. Rather, it's in a very wet jungle.

said Adam on February 17, 2009 1:28 PM.

#2: A meteorological record was witnessed here.

#9: It isn't a factory. Oh, and it's currently abandoned.

Nicely done Camdawgs! Way to win it at the buzzer!

In order to get some feedback, do you guys enjoy these? Should I keep doing them? Do you prefer them with or without hints? Could there be a better method of submitting your answers, rather than writing them in the comments for other people to see?

said Echowood on February 17, 2009 2:14 PM.

I like it all as is Echo. Nifty as heck! Like Chopshop but geographic.

said E on February 17, 2009 2:23 PM.

I missed the first one, but this a great way to take a fun break from work and play with Google earth. Like starting off without hints, then only add them if needed.

said Camdawgs on February 17, 2009 2:27 PM.

I agree, keep everything as is.

said Adam on February 17, 2009 2:40 PM.

Done, done, and done.

said Echowood on February 17, 2009 2:47 PM.

Keep it as you did it today. Clues as needed.
