It's like Digg, but Neater

Our good friend Alex at Neatorama has launched a major new upgrade that adds a community aspect to his very always entertaining site. With the "Upcoming Queue" now anyone can write their own story for submission, and the community will vote it up or down, depending on whether it's "neat or not". It's an interesting concept, and it'll be especially fascinating to see if it increases the quality of great posts that Neatorama is known for, or if it suffers from the kind of abuse that happens over at Digg.

At one point, I thought about doing something like that over here, but then I realized ehh, sounds like a lot of work. So I suggest we put Alex's implementation to the test. A free "Loyal 77" button to the first person here who submits one of our stories and gets it to the top of the queue :)

So submit a YBNBY story to Neatorama? Hmm. Different crowd over there... Think they like boobies?

They do. They're just in denial.

I just noticed this over there, seems like there's going to be a lot of boring posts that you can't avoid unless many users do the work of reading and rating.

Oh, this should be easy... for me. Remember, I have privileges over there.

Hmm, which do I go for, the free button or keeping my Neatorama job?

You see, I'm tempted to go over there and post as money videos of chicks making out as I can find, just to lower the tone of the place. Now it's all user controlled, it's only a matter of time before they find out how perverted their readers really are.

Scara, I read the FAQ and they say they can prevent a post from reaching the front page if they think its content is abusive, offensive and stuff like that. I, like you, thought that as the posts are chosen by users it could happen. Unfortunately they thought of that first.

But trying doesn't hurt, right?
