Yeah Bigus, no doubt, the 'neck quotient in the Valley can be very high. Moreover, this place is smoke central. I have not seen this many people smoke in their cars and homes since 1985. But got to give the Star City its props. For every preggers momma who stupidly worries about the effect of road works on her unborn child while toking on a Red; there is an avid runner, cyclist, or back packer. I moved from the ATL to Roanoke a couple of years ago and while I miss the diversity of a large city I have been surprised by Roanoke's cultural offerings and relative sophistication, that part of Wasena notwithstanding.
Oh sure... the jackhammers will affect her child... only the jackhammer...
Stupid shit...
You gotta love it Leo. Pablo, regarding the Star City, I left and came here to SC for college and I still love going back. It amazes me how much that place keeps changing. What kills me is the monstrosity of an art museum they are building downtown. Sticks out like a sore thumb but I guess that's "progress". Either way though, I love it and always look forward to visiting.
I can see it, BD. They want to build museums that look like the creepy art pieces they'll put inside it. There was a project for a Guggelhein Museum (don't know if it's spelled right) here in Brazil. Man, it looked like a shipwreck damaged by years under the sea.
And they had a project for a "City of Sex", in Copacabana, Rio. Just a mile away from where I lived.
The prostitution is a serious business on the shore, and they wanted to make a place where the girls could work safely and also they could have a museum or place to give lectures about sex. Anyway, it just didn't happened. Take a look at how it would be, if built.

Wow! I saw the video and it looks like they built waterslides to entertain people while they wait to get serviced! Ingenius!
Bigus. I agree that the Taubman does not blend very well with the more dated style of downtown Roanoke. Moreover, it looks like is was cramed into the space in occupies; however the space opened in November and the completed project actually looks better that I expected and interior is remarkable, great views of the mountians and H&C sign. More importantly, the collection is actually pretty impressive and the community use of the space is very encouring. All right, enough of this private back and forth crap. Back to the show.
Right on....back to the show....soooo...let's here it for smoking grannies!
Do you think this woman even realizes how moronic she looks?
Hell for all we know, she's celebrating her 100th cigarette. They say you age faster as a smoker.
