A friend called me this morning and told me how he'd just received an obviously faked, but funny version of the New York Times, post-dated July 4, 2009. He suggested I put it up on YesButNoButYes. (Though, the guys at Laughing Squid beat me to it). With headlines like "Iraq War Ends" and a "True Cost Tax Plan" we can only hope this is what the future has in store for us. Created by the Yes Men, volunteers took to the streets to distribute the paper, eliciting a response from the Grey Lady herself. Here is an online version as well as a PDF.

I'm pretty sure this is one of coolest videos I've seen all year.
And the atrophe/muscle chick is an actress, right? I'm sure that's one of John Cusack's top 5 breakup girls from High Fidelity.
Nice!
I'd like to get this newspaper for real. Some people really know how to play, and make other folks happy as a result.
I'm sorry, but the New York Times is already a parody of itself. This stunt is the Crazy version of the NYT's Cracked parody of Mad. If you are gonna spoof it, maybe think of less lame headlines. Snoozeville.
If I were a member of the Yes Men, I'd have put in headlines like:
You Read Headlines from Left to Right
Newspaper Layoffs Hit an All-Ti--
New York Times Switches to Clearer, More Lethal Ink
Newsprint Proven to Be Edible and Nutritious
Homeless Man Asleep Beneath This Issue Did Not Pay For It
Schizophrenics Detect "Secret" Messages in Times Editorials: Kill Him Kill Him Now
For One Daring Teenager, Times Doubles As Parachute
Teen Literacy, Newspaper-parachute Deaths, Up
Was that Lily Taylor in there? Are all these guys actors? Wait a minute, was this real? My head hurts. Fkcin flashbacks.
Yes that is Lily Taylor. It is a fake fake. Improv Everywhere would kick the Yes Men in the crotch.
DSB, they already print that newspaper. It's called The Onion. Maybe that's why this stunt seems lame.
