Although the second Watchmen trailer re-uses a lot of shots from the first one, it gives them a lot more context. One things is for sure - Zak Snyder and the design team must have used the graphic novel as their storyboard, which SEEMS obvious, but I've never seen that happen in a comicbook based movie so obviously before. There's that shot in Spidey with him walking away from the costume in the trash can from ASM #50, but nothing like this. Anyone who has read Watchmen will know some of these images are uncanny reproductions of Gibbon's art. Even if the story doesn't cut it, we'll be able to turn down the sound, put on some NIN and enjoy.

It is quite impressive, it looks almost shot for shot like the comic's pages. In every visual aspect it's awesome... but i read a couple days ago that Snyder changed the ending, now there's no squid. How will that affect the story I've no idea but i can't see why that had to be cut. I still want to see it but the hopes have gone down.
I read that to etantao and it's a disappointment. I just finished rereading Watchmen and loved it even more.
My only guess is they switched out the squid/alien thing for something mass audiences would accept and relate to as a plausible tragedy, like a nuclear bomb.
I just hope Snyder doesn't go overboard with the slo-mo music video style. It works well in the trailer but it will take away from the realism that the Watchmen story goes for if he uses it too much throughout.

Watch SIN CITY -- it's astonishing how well the graphic novel's panels translated to screen. From there to 300 to WATCHMEN... I'm glad to see it being done, as a lot of sequential artists have a wonderful cinematic approach.
If three quarters of the trailer are slow motion i think we might see a record of slow mo in a two and a half hour movie...
I see what you mean about the mass market but hopefully it won't dull the story or even worst reshape it into something different.
