Pancreatic cancer is real fucking scary.
It kills 96% of the people that get it.
There's no early test, prevention or cure.
Live just 7 months after diagnosis and you've beaten the odds of survival.
Worse, pancreatic cancer research constitutes less than 2% of the National Cancer Institute's budget.
Why I am writing about this? Cause November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
So I urge you learn more about this deadly cancer at these sites
And donate if you can.
Thanks

Yeah thats one of the worst ones. Bill Hicks, I think, died of it. From what I understand it's usually advanced by the time they find out about it. Don't know if they can test for it well or not.
I heard about a guy who got a diagnosis and the doctor goes -
' You have stage 5 '.
The guy says, 'How many stages are there?'
'5'
Best of luck to Patrick Swazye.
Both of my Grandfathers died of Pancreas Cancer.
One died before I was born, and the other I remember I was 14, we were having a family picnic and everybody noticed that his face was really yellow.
It took my mom and uncle about two hours of crying to convince him to go to the Doctor. When he finally did that night, the doctors told him he had pancreatic cancer and that he had three months to live.
He died three months to the day.
Pancreas cancer is scary shit.
I watched it take my Grandpa who was one of the toughest hardest SOB's alive who's hands were so big that he could grab a grown man around the throat as his thumb and fingers would wrap around the neck his thumb would overlap the rest of his fingers.
It took him from one of the baddest men alive to a feeble old man who could barely hold up the button to his morphine drip, just in a matter of 3 months.
Scary shit.
Sorry to hear about your Grandpa Dave.
That's why money for research is sorely needed. They may have a better way to detect it with a test soon but right now most people who catch it early (Steve Jobs) are the lucky ones. Otherwise it's usually too late.
Baier-I think Cancer will effect all of us in one way or another. Most of us will probably die from Cancer or Heart problems, that's just the way it is.
It's a hell of an idea for every one to donate money or do something for cancer research. Odds are cancer will effect all of us directly or indirectly.
Cancer is a pretty horrible way to die, you don't just die, you suffer. Any type of donation is good, and by donating or doing something you may just be saving yourself or someone you love.
I donate and raise money through Relay for Life. It's not alot, but it's something. There are a lot more who do a lot more and I think that is pretty damn commendable.
I didn't know Michael Landon died of Pancreas cancer?
Ya know he stayed at my house and crapped on my toilet before it was my house and my toilet.
Yeah, I'm pretty famous.
Sometimes when taking a dump in the cowboy bathroom I hear the ghost of Michael Landon whispering "I crapped where you are crapping!"
It's kind of erie and comforting at the same time.
Dave - "Sometimes when taking a dump in the cowboy bathroom I hear the ghost of Michael Landon whispering 'I crapped where you are crapping!'"
That would scare the shit outta me!
On the other hand, it'll keep ya regular.
Tim,
Don't you remember that show highway to heaven?
I watched that regularly as a kid, M.L. played an angel?
It's like the real deal for me, he has come back as an angel to help me through my bowel movements.
I do remember the show. Didn't watch it much, though.
Bonanza was more my style. Them Cartwrights taught me the value of a good, strong cup of coffee. That keeps me regular.
That reminds me ... where's Jeni Gump?
Pancreatic cancer is what killed Julius Carry a few months ago. (Lord Bowler from 'The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.') Cancer sucks.
