The entire catalog of LIFE photographs, millions of them dating back to 1750, and most never published, are now all available on Google. It's simple things like this - an incredible photographic record of our society, now free and at my children's fingertips - that makes me realize what an amazing age we are living through.

That *is* amazing!
I didn't know they had photography in 1750...
Sorry... picking nits is about the only thing I'm good at.
No, they did not have photos. Life didn't even start until the 1880s. And according to Mr. Pedia, the first permanent photograph was invented in 1826. If you search "1750s", it's all engravings/etches/sketches/etc.
To be fair, Google themselves say the photographs stretch back to the 1750s...
This is awesome, no matter what the term, sketch or photograph. I checked them out, and I could look at them for hours. I enjoy being lost in pictures every chance I get.
Another great post, sir!
It is a little known fact that photography WAS invented in 1750, but, unfortunately, it wouldn't be until 1902 when Thomas Edison would invent the picture frame.
So nobody took any photos until then.
That's a nice picture of Marilynn Monroe there. I have to say though, as an actress Terry Schiavo had more emotional range and her voice made Fran Dresher sound like Olivier.
Also, if the first picture was taken on 11/1/1750, the first porn shoot was 11/2/1750. That would have been the origins of the Puritan Porn bubble.
