First the good: minimalism is great. Why clutter a design just to make it stand out? Can't a logo "pop" without shoving it down your throat? Also, I'm digging the font. I know lowercase is the new cool thing, especially to get across the "we're so cool, we don't need capital letters" motif, but it works for the brand.
Now the bad: why'd you mess with the logo? There are few internationally recognized brand logos that permeate into almost everyone in the planet. Apple's logo probably doesn't reach as far as Pepsi's. And yet, they've completely destroyed the swirl (aka, "beach ball). I get it, each drink is supposed to have a different version of the Pepsi logo, but couldn't we have stuck with what worked and just incorporated the old logo into the new design?
As always, the comments section is open for your detailed analysis/nitpicking.

Looks to me like they want to be the drink that washes down the donuts and bacon....
i;m a mountain dew junkie. I'd still drink it no matter what the packaging is.
That being said. I Like the minimalist approach.
Just don't Futz with the formula or i'll have to go all "HULK SMASH"
I like the designs. I don't really think Pepsi is in danger of not being recognized based on the logo change.
I think the logo and designs are all so superficial though. I've always disliked marketing because it feels too much like you're creating demand. The money your spending on marketing should instead be used to keep prices low and/or to make quality products. Oh well.
I think it looks like a generic brand trying to design something that looks almost like a Pepsi product, but not quite enough to actually invoke litigation and a cease and desist order.
Really, it looks like some generic in-house brand of soda you'd buy at Target.

I agree with Hoyt... looks more like you're going to buy a fake pepsi than a new pepsi logo.
But I don't think that a new logo is going to change their market share. Some more folks will buy it, during the hype of the new logo, but soon it'll be back to the normal.
Taking me as an example. I hate pepsi, always preferred drinking coke. I don't know how do they taste around there, but here, I can say coke beats pepsi, 10-0. At least in my opinion. And I'd still drink coke even if the pepsi bottles came with Phoebe Cates in bikini pics printed on them.
Coke tried changing their guarana drink labels to increase the sells and as far as I know, still being beaten by Guarana Antarctica.
In short words: nevermind the outfits, people will keep drinking what they like.
I love Pepsi. Will still drink it regardless of what they change the logo to.
However this thing looks like it was hastily designed in 5 months, which it was. Now Pepsi will spend 100s of millions changing the logo on all it's displays, signs, trucks, store coolers, etc. Wow, they better like it.
Looks like Pepsi has officially endorsed Barack Obama
Looks like they're trying to pay homage to Obama and his new flag design. Ugh! If that's the case my favorite drink has just gone by the wayside....
