How to blow your nose
Kleenex.jpg

From the health desk.
Important information for the coming cold season...

Step 1.
Use paper facial tissues instead of cloth handkerchiefs. Germs thrive in dark, moist environments.

Step 2
Avoid blowing your nose too hard. Too much pressure will force infectious drainage into your ears and sinuses.

Step 3
Press one finger over one nostril.

Step 4
Blow gently through the open nostril.

Step 5
Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 6
Use tissues once, then throw them away.

Step 7
Wash your hands. Germs will be on your fingers after you've handled your nose and your tissue. Don't spread the germs to other people or back to yourself.

Or there's always the snake option...

Ginger

At the Secret Policeman's Ball 2008 the other night, funny man Tim Minchin debuted a song called "Ginger."

Seems "Only a ginger can call another ginger ginger"

Do you know why? I'd love to know.

What we need now is more Juice!
juiceNewt.jpg

Time out readers.

Lets take five and exhale slowly.

To bridge the divide that's come upon this site today, we need to a uniter not a divider. A seriously soothing voice of change.

I'm talking 'bout the Queen of Hearts.

She'll call you Angel in the morning.
She won't be blinded by the light because loves been a little bit hard on her too.
She's Juice Newton,
and the sweetest thing she's ever known is loving you.

Prez Dispenser

"W." *** (out of four): Oliver Stone delivers a surprisingly entertaining, almost sympathetic look at our much-maligned 43rd President.

w_1[1].jpg

Has Oliver Stone softened in his old age? One would think, based on previous works like "Platoon", "JFK" and "Nixon", that his portrait of the man who led us into the Iraq war would be yet another burning in effigy. Instead, Stone offers a surprisingly entertaining, almost sympathetic look at our much-maligned 43rd President.

McZoinks!

Adding a little cartoon fun to Big Mac's classic reaction to Obama's "Zero" comment from last night's debate.

You can't sue God, stupid.
GOD-DUDE.jpg

Last year Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers filed a lawsuit against God.

He was seeking a permanent injunction because the G-man made terrorist threats against Ernie and his constituents in Omaha. Chambers sought a permanent injunction to prevent the "death, destruction and terrorization" caused by God.

Now a judge has thrown out the case...on a technicality.

God wasn't properly served due to his unlisted home address.

You can't find God, you can't serve him papers.

Ernie does believe he has grounds for appeal since the court acknowledged the existence of God. "God knows everything so he has notice of this lawsuit," reasoned Ernie.

Strangely, God has not responded to this lawsuit through any of his representatives in the Vatican, 700 Club or the Protestant, Baptist, Lutheran Churches or numerious organizations that preach his word.

Ignorance at Its Finest
This video is just as shocking as the last one we showed. No matter what side of the fence you're on, it's absolutely outstanding that we still have such massive ignorance in this country. The last time I checked (which was actually a few minutes ago) Barack Obama was neither a terrorist nor a Muslim. Further, not all, in fact a severe minority of Muslims are terrorists. Vote for whoever you feel is more qualified, but don't vote based on faulty information that your neighbor told you.

Caption Competition

I completely missed the debate last night. Surfing after midnight, I found out pretty much all I needed to know about it online, and things I really didn't need to know but found interesting, like this picture.

The Horror of Bunnies
435newcastle.jpg If you've been around at least a year, you know that I tend to go into Halloween overload every October. I've switched into high gear now, so you can expect Halloween nonsense pretty much nonstop from this point. Check my feature post today at mental_floss.
As Halloween approaches, you'll be hit from all sides with tales of ghosts, witches, vampires, monsters, and other assorted scary icons. But none can be more terrifying than ...bunny rabbits!

Poor "Payne" Management

"Max Payne" *1/2 (out of four): Director John Moore delivers the goods, but it's not enough to overcome an extremely weak script.

maxpayne.jpg

There is a great deal of difference between what makes a video game successful and what makes a movie successful. Those who remember both playing and sitting through "Super Mario Brothers" (the first such adaptation) learned this lesson quickly. Hollywood has yet to catch on.

404 Error

Whoops! We're not sure if it was your fault or ours (probably yours, we're good that way) but you've encountered a FATAL ERROR!!! Or at least, a pretty grumpy one.

Specifically the Latvians who run our server are telling us in a weird accent "Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 6]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtfeed' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580), Comrade!". Ain't life a bitch.

If you want to vent, email our slacker of a webmaster. Otherwise, we'd suggest going back, using search, or clicking around aimlessly on this page like a moron.

Have fun.
