We have an impromptu weekend theme going. Witches and wizards.
To show how this silly belief and/or fear of superstition and/or witchcraft is not limited to Africa and other foreign lands, we bring you a story from Florida. Where a substitute teacher named Jim Piculas was apparently fired for wizardry.
Earlier this year, The Colbert Report investigated.
Not abroad in Kenya or Haiti. Not dealing with small tribes or indigenous cultures. Just the plain old dopey in the U.S. of A. A magic trick, and a poor one at that, was confused with sorcery by a Florida school district.
I wonder where the substitute teacher got the idea for the trick? Maybe here...

I think there are some people who are Wiccan or Pagan who refer to themselves as witches. Just another religious preference. If they really fly on brooms though, that I'd like to see. I'd be for it I guess.
Speaking of Fly, Idina Menzel in, what was it, Wicked, that broadway show - Hot. I think Willow in Buffy was a witch no? Also hot.
HEavens, Our country is being overrun with wizards and witches...
Oh my bad, those are just emo kids....
whatever.
Good point Pablo. BTW, if you want to piss off a Goth, ask them how long they've been Emo. Works the other way around too from what I understand.
Goth, Emo, Whatever.... It's all about the angst baby!
