Rage Against the GOP

Here's the reformed Rage Against the Machine in St. Paul. Their concert was not allowed, so they took to the crowd and performed there.

Now the following video is of course, full of political mish-mosh so if you want to fast-forward Zack's monologue click to about 2:40 seconds in for a quite unique performance.

Really... quite unique...
Maybe it was better for them that they were not allowed to do the concert. Now this video will spread like Ass Crickets in a sorority house and it's a priceless propaganda for the band.

I'm happy to know they're back.

The good thing is the demonstration didn't shadow that of Rage's appearance at the 2000 DNC Convention in Los Angeles. That was really ugly.

What happened in the 2000 convention, JW?

De la rocha is still alive? i thought his hair would have eaten him alive by now.

Hopefully they can channel that political rage into a decent new album...

He's still alive but he hasn't showered since 95.

Yep... By his look in this footage, I'd say he was living in Hobotown or in Bumland, but I didn't spot any plastic bag or shopping cart.

Rage Against Personal Hygiene.

Sorry it took me a bit to answer your question Leo.

In 2000 Rage played a free show across the street from Staples Center while the DNC convention was going on. It was to protest the two party system. I just write a boring column, Rage gives a concert.

Police said it was an unlawful assembly and cut the power. Demonstration turned to riot pretty quick. Concert goers chucked a few rocks and LA SWAT unloaded tear gas and rubber bullets to break up the mob. About half a dozen were arrested.

No problem JW.
I didn't know about it. A raging mass of rioters is a huge deal to the cops... I've seen (and been into) some here...

A little futbol hooliganism Leo? I hear Argentina is way worse than you guys, but Brazil still brings the thunder to the match.

I've read some teams have private clubs for the firms in South America with special entrances to the pitch.

said Johnny Wright on September 5, 2008 4:03 PM.

Yes they do... the firms have their free tickets for every game and a room in the team's home stadium to keep their drums, flags, fireworks... Sometimes two rival firms cheering for the same club fight one each other badly.
I'm not keen about football, so that's not my kind of crowd. Actually, I just attended to 3 football matches in my whole life...

The riots I were in, involved bands and shows... some guys in my home town used to arrange gigs with local bands. Punk, HC, heavy metal, stuff like this. And there was a gang of skinheads in the neighbor town, and they went to almost all of the gigs to to start fights and get back home with their noses bleeding and some broken ribs. We had the number...
Skinheads can't count? 15 guys will never beat 150 others. Luckly, they never brought firearms.

Kicking skinhead's asses is awesome.

No wonder you are in charge of the tough guy brigade LC.
Hope RATM comes out with something nice.

I had my days. ;)
What is funny is that we almost don't have "pure races" in here. All the skinheads were mixed race guys, none of them was a real white guy. What made me sad for them, because they were so confused that they were fighting against themselves.

said Leonardo Carvalho on September 6, 2008 7:25 AM.

skinheads generally suck, especially in groups...
i think that de la rocha has a new band, somethin ablout a lion, its just like RATM but shoved thhrough an Nes sound system with the drummer of the mars volta, its friggin okay... they have a hit for the radio arready, heheh.
