While watching John McCain's convention speech online (is he still going?) I saw something strange. I did a quick "screen grab" to make sure I wasn't seeing a comedy mirage. The camera caught an enthusiastic supporter in the crowd. The chap was proudly holding a homemade sign highlighting one of McCain's attributes. He's a maverick. The problem? Magic Markers don't have spell-check. "Mavrick." Well, he did sound it out.
Damn. So close.

JW - I saw that on the NBC broadcast last night. It was pretty funny.
I like how Brian Williams took the time last night to point out that the NBC cameras weren't all actually owned by NBC and that they were just leasing some of the feeds. That was the reason, he said, that coverage was given to things (e.g. protestors and idiots with misspelled signs) that normally wouldn't receive any camera time.
I have to say, though, it seems pretty pathetic to protest inside the convention during the nominees address. In my opinion, pulling stunts like that are the very reason why the far left is not taken seriously. They're like the pathetic kid at school that was always in trouble trying to get attention; you kinda look at him (or her) as pathetic and feel sorry.
Here's what's creepy: The idiot holding that sign is probably an executive at my bank...and is that a pink tie?
During Palin's speech the night before I spotted a sign with "Ameirca".
I wondered about the signs - did they have a stack of posterboard, markers, and what looked like fingerpaint outside the door to the hall? The handmade signs all seemed to be the same size and color scheme. If I were to do it, I'd be sure to get a sheet of day-glo green.
Come to think of it, that's probably Dubya hiding behind that sign!
No--wait--it's DAVE!!!!
Boy that guy can really dull a crowd eh?
JW--that's why they hand out pre-printed signs with the candidate names on them....
Is that where Dave has been hiding?
I think Dave knows how to spell CLC08..however I did notice he's been absent this week from commenting. I was wondering if he was the voice helling "yeah! Yeah!" really loudly during all of the speeches on tuesday night.
Oh yeah, Dave knows how to spell. My response was to S.O.'s comment. Are you trying to get me fired Baierman??
CLC....well, WE know that he knows how to spell--but that would be the perfect disguise, no?
Plus, the best way to get votes for yourself is to make the other guy's supporters look like dumb hicks....or in this case, dumb urbanites....
But I think he has enough sense to not wear a pink tie...then again, perfect disguise...and excellent way to get all of us to pay attention to him...
I have no evidence--other than the facts that he's been gone all week and that he knows how to wear a tie.
I'd rather think that he's in disguise at the RNC than duking it out w/Echo over Lindsey...
I imagined whoever was directing the broadcast saying "What the deuce? Look at the idiot with the misspelled sign! Camera 3, you got him? Okay, take camera 3. This is awesome."
What do you expect from layol follawars of Jeorje Dubyah Busch.
Nuculeer.

ass monkes!!!
Now, really. How can you expect people who don't believe in science, and who promote home schooling or public-funded private religious education to avoid contamination of faith by facts to be able to spell?
Sar. One,
Pre-printed signs...the perfect answer. Had too be!
Dave, take note!
Well, there are asterisks, did you check the footnotes? Maybe there's a note on how it's a social commentary on the failures of the American education system. Or, possibly, that he's just sorry.
Maybe it's a commentary on how McCain USED to be a Maverick but then had to sell out to the GOPs' views to get ahead (see views on abortion, taxes, etc)...
Someone bought a vowel from him.....
I note that this would be MAVERICK, if only he had the 'E'. So true my friends.
So true my friend.
