Blender magazine recently asked both presumptive presidential nominees what is their favorite 10 songs on their iPod. I think when they asked John McCain the question they substituted "iPod" with "victrola," but I don't know that for sure. Both lists are pretty safe, and surprisingly, not all bad. Here they are:
JOHN McCAIN
1. Dancing Queen ABBA
2. Blue Bayou Roy Orbison
3. Take a Chance On Me ABBA
4. If We Make It Through December Merle Haggard
5. As Time Goes By Dooley Wilson
6. Good Vibrations The Beach Boys
7. What A Wonderful World Louis Armstrong
8. I've Got You Under My Skin Frank Sinatra
9. Sweet Caroline Neil Diamond
10. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes The Platters
McCain gets points for including Roy Orbison, Frank Sinatra and the theme from Casablanca, but there is something very troubling on his list. ABBA holds two of the top three spots. I'm disturbed by that.
BARACK OBAMA
1. Ready or Not Fugees
2. What's Going On Marvin Gaye
3. I'm On Fire Bruce Spingsteen
4. Gimme Shelter Rolling Stones
5. Sinnerman Nina Simone
6. Touch the Sky Kanye West
7. You'd Be So Easy to Love Frank Sinatra
8. Think Aretha Franklin
9. City of Blinding Lights U2
10. Yes We Can will.i.am
Obama's list is a little better, but still pretty safe. He could have chosen a better Springsteen song, but he did have a solid Stones selection. One glaring omission is Maggie's Farm by Bob Dylan. Obama has said a few times how important the cut is to him. I think he could have bumped the Black Eyed Peas guy for Bob.
"I got a headful of ideas that are driving me insane..."
Stumble This

I'm going to be ill. "Good Vibrations"? McCain could have also done himself a favor by omitting #8. We can go so many ways with that one.
Here's Clintons (Go Bill!):
1. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
2. Me So Horny
3. Cat Scratch Fever
4. Baby's Got Back
5. Bitch Let's Get Butt Naked and Fuck
6. Like a Virgin
7. Back in the Saddle Again
8. Fascination
9. If Loving You Is Wrong I don't Wanna Be Right
10. SuperFreak
E - You forgot "Lyin' Eyes" and "Let's Get Drunk and Screw".
I suspect Hillary has "Milkshake" on her list.
I wonder if Bill plays "Beer for My Horses" when Hillary and Chelsea are around?
Yup. That's right, I said it.
Good ones Tim. I forgot Back That Ass Up, also. (Personal fave of mine too).
...some more for McCain:
"Shut-Up Bitch" - Lil Kim
"End of the Road" - Boyz 2 Men
"Hem of Your Garment" - Cake
For Hillary:
Stand By Your Man - Tammy Wynette.
George W Bush and Ted Kennedy and Dick Cheney:
Drinking and Driving - Johnny Paycheck
Come on. It is pretty obvious that the candidate who picks the Red State - Blue State mashup classic of Zach Galifinakis and Kanye West is going to win in a landslide:

For Obama:
Black Moses
Soul Man
For McCain:
The Old Man is Down the Road
Old Man River
Renegade
For Bill Clinton:
"Hoochie Coochie Man" - Muddy Waters
"Erotic City" - Prince
"Horny Lil Devil" - Ice Cube
"She Swallowed It" - N.W.A.
For John Edwards:
"Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson
"Doin' Dumb Shit" - Ice Cube
E!! - Black Moses is perfect!! Issac Hayes would be proud.
...another for Bill:
"Put Your Mouth On Me" - Eddie Murphy
One for Larry Craig:
"Step in the Name of Love" - R. Kelly (how fitting)
"I Know What Boys Like" - The Waitresses
Good stuff CLC! If I had been Clinton, Erotic City would have been what they played instead of Hail to the Chief. Perfect Fit.
Almost forgot. For McCain:
"Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" - Andrews Sisters
For Nader:
Never Gonna Give You Up - by you know who.
E - that was cruel and I think you owe me an apology...
Sorry Ralph just saying you might want to find another hobby.
funny.
Just for that, if I ever see Rick Astley in person, I'm gonna bitch slap him twice instead of one kick in the nuts.
As the newest up and comer I'd like to submit my presidential Playlist.
1.Back in Black
2.Shes got the Jack
3. Money Talks
4. You Shook me all night long
5. Highway to Hell
6. Shoot to thrill
7. Who made Who
8. Whole lotta Rosie
9. Thunderstruck
10. For those about to Rock (we salute you)
Aw Shit, that was just my AC/DC file.
Nevermind.
Those are all pretty funny, but for some reason Old Man River for McCain made me laugh the most.
Maybe because I keep picturing Chevy Chase singing it to McCain in the Family Truckster.
2 Live Crew brings it for Bill - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFhRIhucgvE
