Doctors treating a 14 year old boy from India were shocked to find a 2cm long fish had "slipped" up his penis and into his bladder. The patient, who was admitted to hospital with complaints of pain, dribbling urine and acute urinary retention spanning a 24-hour period, gave an interesting explanation.
OK, the kid said the fish "slipped" into his penis while he was cleaning the fish tank. No, that's not right, uh, he was holding the fish and had to go pee, so instead of putting the fish in water, he took it with him, and uh, the fish leaped into his penis. Yeah, that's the ticket!
Anyway, they had to pull out the heavy equipment to get it out. He won't be doing that again.

This is what you learn in the ER:
If someone was stabbed and you ask them who did it, they say 'I don't know.'
If someone has something stuck up their butt, they say 'I fell on it.'
Read the story 'Guts' by Pahlaniuk for the last word on this sort of stuff. (Don't do so if you just ate or are just about to eat however.)

If anyone begins a reply to this story with "That reminds me of one time when..." I'm going to have to check out for a week to recover.
I hear you Jim. If you change your mind - http://www.ecrivains.org/IMG/pdf/Guts_de_Chuck_Palahniuk.pdf
...."Inhale. Take in as much air as you can. This story should last about as long as you can hold your breath, and then just a little bit longer. So listen as fast as you can. A friend of mine, when he was 13 years old he heard about"
Jim, I won't tell a tale for your sake. Just take a look at this page: http://www.somednat.org/site/spip.php?article55
I agree with Leonardo - must be a candiru.

E - Goddammit!!! Sick stories about sick jackoffers... I'll have trouble lunching today. The "snake" in the pool is engraved in my mind.
Grey's Anatomy did an episode on this. Aparently there is a parasitic fish that lives in the rain forest that is attracted to the ammonia in urine, and actually swims up the stream and into the body, where it can continue to move all the way up into the kidneys and live in its new host. And this isn't just some creative idea the producers had, it's a real parasite and grossly (and oddly) enough there are documented cases.
This was called the "penis fish" episode, and was actually very amusing.
Katie, that's the candiru. I first heard about it at the Damn Interesting site -horrible story! Not the same kind of fish in this story. A candiru will latch on to your flesh!
