As Echowood got such a great response to his comic recommendations, I thought I'd poll the 3G iPhone users out there for a little advice.
I currently have a Treo 700p, on the Sprint EVDO network. It's a pretty fast internet connection, which is good because i use my phone mainly for email and web. Although I'ma huge Apple fan, the slow AT&T network never tempted me before. But now there's 3G.
I've played with an iPhone - love everything about the way it works. But I'm hearing bad stories about battery life. As I leave the house at 7am and don't get back until 7pm, I'm wondering if the battery is good enough to last a full day? I usually make maybe 30 mins of calls a day and then maybe another hour or two of email and web.
So - advice from people who actually have 3G's - should I stick with the Treo, which always gives me a full day, sometimes two on one charge? Or is it time to upgrade?
And also - anyone know if the AT&T 3G network works down in the NYC subway? My EVDO always goes dead, but I seem to sit surrounded by people using mobile phones.

I have to concede, as much as I love my new iPhone, the battery blows. I had to to out and buy a portable charger that runs on AA batteries so I'll never have to worry about being without a phone, especially in an emergency. If you are interested in the web browsing, there really isn't anything like this on a mobile platform. It renders webpages accurately and quickly. As for email, it's nice but I don't see anything too special about it.
Two guys in our engineering group have the new 3G iphone. I stuck with my Blackberry Curve because I have to have a real keyboard. I just don't do touchpads very well. My Blackberry can go almost three days with hundreds af text messages and emailing and an hour or so of calls and sending pictures. My two buddies are constantly searching for power outlets, in conference rooms, airports, etc. On our last flight together, about 5 hours long (no plugs), each of them asked to use my Blackberry to call home as soon as we landed. I think Steve needs to get a clue about real life usage. If you are going to have crappy battery life, AT LEAST MAKE THE BATTERY REPLACEABLE!!
I bought the last gen iPhone last fall, after they dropped the price from $599 to $399. Not sure how it compares with the battery life of the new one, but one thing I discovered is that keeping WiFi enabled all the time IS a serious battery drain, probably because it's constantly searching for a signal. So unless I'm surfing the web or getting email, I keep WiFi turned off.
