once a friend taught me how to do a similar trick on the older pop vending machines. the ones that you cant see inside but the buttons have the icon of the drink, you'd just have to press the buttons in sequence of about 12 presses and after that one can would come out. supposedly that was used to check if the dispensing mechanism worked correctly. i never tried it though and dont remember the sequence.
