I saw a lot of those traffic speed trap cameras over the weekend and it made me curious. You know, to see if there are ways to outsmart them. And, of course, there are.
Here is TechTV demonstrating some of the ways you can blur your license plate. And while they don't recommend using these products, they certainly have no issue demonstrating how effective each one is. Nor do many of the other news channels that have run similar step-by-step segments just like this.
Now the easiest and stupidly simple product, Photoblocker may not illegal to buy but some states have banned it so you know.

these guys are so late with this, there are i think two episodes of The Mythbusters where they try some of these products with a camera just like the ones on streets. none of the products did anything remotely like what they offer.
*sigh* i also miss Tech Tv it's a shame that it was bought and made into this crappy channel.

Now they say the blur license plate covers don't work, but I don't believe they tested the spray product.
I live in Delaware, and our photo lights don't take pictures of the front of the car, they take a photo of the back licence plate AND a shot of the RED light you are driving through.. so its like damn... i'm guilty. Also.. they are flash free cameras. So you dont see a flash, and dont even know your getting a ticket until it comes in the mail. I think its kinda weird that they would do it from the front, and like see you through the windshield. But i suppose that would make it easier to tell who should pay the ticket if a vehicle has multiple drivers.
Katie, the photospray people also make a spray that covers the windshield to help hide the driver as well. Who knows if it works.
Even though this story is dated, I just find the idea interesting that second the government tries to up the revenue for speeding tickets, immediately people try to market solutions to fight that.
i thought they tried the spray too on the show. anyway all these products look even worst than those the incredibly annoying Billy Mays sells. the cameras on the other hand do work and don't use flash, i once got a 114 bucks ticket on the mail from going to fast through a toll booth. there came two photos one from the front with my face clearly visible and one from the back.
You need to wear a mask next time. Sorry you got caught etantao.
