Michael Jackson said it best, "It's a turf war, on a global scale." The folks at urbantakeover have taken that statement a bit literally. Now, this may be slightly illegal. But like most illegal things, it's a lot of fun.

Like a good graffiti artist, one has to assume that the world is your canvas. And, as this is the epoch of information, "tagging" your place in the world has become a bit more ... interactive. urbantakeover is an online/offline game. How it works is this:
  • Get stickers with your "tag" on them.
  • Place stickers on various landmarks, lampposts, poodles, vixens around your city.
  • Take a picture of your effort.
  • Upload your picture to urbantakeover's servers via text message.
Now things get interesting. Other players can "attack" your spot. (Placing their sticker over yours, or removing yours all together.) The thing is, you'll get a text message indicating that someone is encroaching on your territory. And like your sister after she came back from the football team's locker room, you'll want to defend your honor.

The site is Austria, and is still in Beta. So there are a few questions still to be answered. But this could be wildly entertaining if it gains some ground and users.

Michael jackson also said "“Why can't you share your bed? The most loving thing to do is to share your bed with someone." So let's hope we don't start finding photographs of little labels plastered on little buttocks
