The gay mayo ad controversy

This ad for Heinz Mayo is causing a stir across the pond. It's offended uptight UK citizens and angered gay rights groups now that's it's been banned. Now I can understand why this advert has got peoples knickers in a bunch, but personally I think it's for the wrong reasons.

The kiss is not offensive, it's the casting, wardrobe and accident of the Mum character that's inexcusable. Put Mum on a Bay Ridge or Little Italy street corner with that NY accent and he won't make it home at night to make any crappy sandwiches.

Well I for one am DEEPLY offended. Everyone KNOWS that a sandwich just isn't a sandwich without the tangy zip of Miracle Whip!!

While that may be true ConservaliberCrat, I dunno if they have the Whip over in the UK. They may not be that lucky.

New York "accident"? Don't you mean "accent" ?

Thanks mark. fixed.

that was hysterical. Of course people are going to interrupt this as some gay thing, but the whole point is that hellman's mayo makes mom a deli-guy, right?

It's like those ads where cleaners show up in one's shower. They're not really there. It's a metaphor.

dumb conservative dipshits.

Really? This is controversial? Over here, it would be shown during the Super Bowl.

Just for the record YBNBY editors, when you mention 'gay mayo', um, people might assume things, one of which is that they best not review this post at work.

Sorry E, guess you don't live in California or Mass.

Trailwaze, that's exactly what I was talking about. No mayo posts at work for me.

I thought this was about gay people marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Manhattan, I march with Co. Mayo every year.
