As I am sure many of you know, a raging inferno ripped through the Universal Studios backlot yesterday. My little brother Ted made the astute observation that it would have been ironic if the Backdraft show, which is set on fire purposely dozens of times a day, burnt down in the blaze. It didn't.
Unfortunately, we had some casualties. The King Kong set, which was funny because it smelled like bananas when Kong appeared reeking havoc in Manhattan, is gone. Finito. The big fella has given up the ghost.
The most significant loss is that of the Hill Valley Town Square. The site of two important skateboard chases. One involving a crudely fashioned plank with roller skate wheels nailed to the bottom, the other with hoverboards. Both don't end well for Biff Tannen.
In tribute, we give you one of Hill Valley's most historic moments. Sleep well, sweet prince.

That kind of makes me feel bad. BTTF is probably one of my favorite shows. I wonder if they will rebuild it. I guess it wouldn't be the same if they did. I have only been to Universal Studios once but that was my favorite part. I guess that and the Jaws ride was the only attraction that I was able to enjoy. Unfortunately I got arrested by Universal Studios security right after the Jaws ride and spent 4 hours in lockdown before being asked to exit the park.
Sounds like a 1.21 jiggowatt fire.
They should make a 4th movie, just to get the set back.
