Spoilers ahead....see the picture after the jump.
So was that the lovely wasteland of Brooklyn that Adama and the boys were visiting at the very end of the mid-season finale of Battlestar Galactica tonight?
Here's a quick and dirty side by side shot.

Hey, how about you fuckers spoiler that shit. Not everyone watches shows the instant they come out. You guys a pricks.
Some might say if it IS supposed to be Brooklyn it's insenstive, given 9/11. But remember, this show has largely been a 9/11 parable from the original mini, up to the One Year Jump, especially; dealing with occupation, suicide bombings, torture, tribunals. This show has covered many aspects of 9/11 from the build up to the attacks to the aftermath.
So if it is Brooklyn, it's damned fitting that they make it somewhat recognizable.
But the big question is... where does humanity go from here?
Looks a little like The Forbidden Zone to me - now, where are the Apes?
Seriously though, I wouldn't necessarily take all the ruins to mean some kind of war (although it probably does). Just depends how far in the future it is. I figure Manhattan would look like that thousands of years in the future, even without a war. Ancient Rome looks pretty crumbly these days.
Has any mention been made when they will air the final shows? It feels like we've been waiting for the end of this show forever.
I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that it's looking like Ellen Tigh is the fifth cylon.
Ya know, it occurred to me...
if the final five have been to Earth... maybe it was to...
... Destroy it?!
I bet the Cylons already destroyed Earth. The final five knew it, surpressed, but the rest didn't.
That's a hell of a set up for the last ten episodes of the series.
Kenard kills Omar, by the way.
I don't watch the show, but I like that blonde chic. Good hustle.
BTW, Soylent Green is people, The butler did it, and the kid from Brooklyn gets shot and killed in the last battle.
"Some might say if it IS supposed to be Brooklyn it's insenstive, given 9/11."
When I see or hear comments like this, my gut reaction is "So, should there be a ban on the fictional destruction of ALL real buildings/places, or just New York?" The constant sanitization of media for the sake of the children or whomever really has got to stop.
On the other hand, I saw Transformers the other day, and I felt a little weird about the scene where one of the things deliberately flies through an office building.
So, I GET the sentiment, but at some point, isn't enough enough?
p.s. I have no idea what the actual post is about.
A good shirt for the spoily-challenged people of YBNBY:

@Jen: Good point... looks like everything that is shown about war, destruction or something, and involves NY, causes a 'rememeber 9/11 this', 'remember 9/11 that'... enough is enough...
For example, the post of the babies that are thrown 5 feets high into a blanket. We had here in Brazil a recent case of a father throwing his daughter 6 stores to the ground... Disturbing see the kids thrown? Yep. Am I crying 'don't show it, hurts my heart... boo hooo'... No.
Differences aside, its almost the same... something bad happens, we grieve, but life moves on...
Did they ever explain the Bob Dylan song? Because that killed the show for me in one fell swoop, because I cannot imagine a way to explain that that doesn't suck hugely.
