I used to do a regular feature of online movies and trailers here, but with the rise of YouTube, links to quicktime movies just didn't seem to have the same appeal. But occasionally I still like to head over to the Japanese Apple trailers site, to spot weird and incomprehensible trailers for movies that'll probably never make it to these shores. Three I came upon tonight:
Any trailer that begins with a giant tongue - and just gets weirder - is my kind of movie.
I think this might be the new Genghis Khan movie, but with this many extras, how can it be anything other than amazing?
This movie's either about horrific acne, or maybe some kind of supernatural thriller.

Super visuals on all of them. The first and third look really out there. The second does look like a biopic of Ghengis Khan or something. (Don't speak Japanese btw.)
Recall seeing, I think it was called Spirited Away, a Japanese anime thing. It was pretty good, but it was way surreal in an Alice and Wonderland kind of way. Maybe that's a popular style in Japan.
Yeah, I'm in Japan now, actually...YesButNoButYes is my only real tether to American Pop Culture, so I thought I'd chime in:
The first film is Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro, based off a popular manga/anime series about Japanese folklore. Never read it. Looks interesting (the anime, not the movie). The third trailer is Mushishi, also based off of a manga. I could barely understand the trailer, so a synopsis'd be kind of difficult. But, both of those movies are being heavily advertised here.
