Scott Vs Brent - A Tale of Two Offices
1207787531972.jpg

My good friend (and ex-intern - never forget that, buddy) Jason has posted one of those multi-page quizzes over at Mental Floss that do wonders for his pageviews :) But in this case, it's worth it. In celebration of the return of The US Version of The Office - 18 questions to test your Office IQ.

I always have to use the phrase 'The US version" in these stories, because - frankly - anyone who thinks Steve Carrell's performance even slightly approaches the genius of Ricky Gervais probably doesn't understand the true nature of comedy (note: comment bait). For those of you who still appreciate the master at work, Gervais is blogging the making of his new movie, This Side of the Truth.

Stay Away, This Thing Will Hurt Someone.
artie_lange.jpg
Public breakdowns are never good. Just ask my sister, who went ballistic outside of Spaceship Earth at Epcot Center when she was told she couldn't have any more ice cream. Those of you with Sirius Satellite Radio who happened to tune into the Howard Stern Show this morning, know exactly what I'm talking about.

Restless Corpses
435Bentham.png
I've been somewhat immersed in corpses for the last month or so, so to speak. Seems like a body can't get no rest. If I may stoop to some shameless self-promotion, you're invited to check out my dead people trilogy at mental_floss.

Part one: 6 Restless Corpses, featuring the corpse that was put on trial.

Part two: 6 More Restless Corpses, including the guy who kept the woman he loved with him for years after her death.

Part three: 6 restless Corpses: Heads of State Edition, with a picture of Abraham Lincoln in his coffin.

I will now try to resume life among the living. Thank you.

Buttmachine

That 1 Guy plays a homemade instrument he calls the Magic Pipe. Way cool, methinks. Or did you even notice it amongst all the butts?

Bear Hunting in Russia
bear.jpg

Yep, that's a big paw! This Russian site has a gallery of bear kills, with varying amounts of blood. I think there may be some playing with perspective here, like the giant boar that was in the news a while back. The Babelfish translation was, as usual, no help. Take a look and imagine what these guys do in the woods.

Placenta - food of the Gods
placenta-10000-drinka-1.jpg

There's an increasing trend for "smart food" - stuff you eat not only to satisfy that lonely feeling inside, but also with added health benefits. Now from Japan comes a new zero-calorie "jelly drink" with regenerative, beauty and dieting benefits.

It's name? Placenta. Because - well - it's made from Pig's Placenta. At this point I'd make an "mmmm, tastes like chicken" joke, but apparently it tastes like peaches.

Which reminded me of this clip from a British TV cooking show where a group of women gather around to make Placenta Paté. Although watching the clip, I'm not sure it does a whole lot for the "placenta as beauty supplement" argument.
