The Wire: Series Finale (sniff, sniff)

wires.jpg

The Wire wrapped up in exceptional fashion. Mostly all the loose ends of Season 5 were tied up with one message made abundantly clear: the people may change but the game won’t.

This video features The Pogues singing Body of an American which was featured during McNulty's "Wake" scene in the finale.

Notes from The Wire Series Finale…

Overall, The Wire ended reasonably well for McNulty, Lester, Daniels, DA Perlman, Carcetti, Rawls, Marlo, Scott Templeton and Herc.

Life goes on as usual for Kima, Bunk, Carver, Slim, The Greek(s), Gus and Levy.

While Chris, Dukwon, Alma and especially Cheese hit the skids. RIP Method Man.

I loved that David Simon and Ed Burns gave us a glimpse of the future with Detective Sydnor (the new McNulty) and Michael (the new Omar). It was also nice to see cameos by Wee-Bey, Deputy Valchek and the stripper from season 1 who’s name escapes me. I did miss knowing what happened to Cutty and Clay Davis but that’s okay. After all is said and done I totally dug Season 5 and am sad to see it end. Of course I’ll miss The Wire dearly and would love to see Season 6, but I’ll take the 5 great seasons that HBO aired. Thankfully, as the airwaves become more crowded with reality TV crap and mind-numbing pundit talk shows, I’ll have the DVDs to fall back on.

A review from the Chicago tribune

A negative review, from the Baltimore Sun. Figures.

What’s next for the cast? MTV knows.

Finally, this one had me rolling. Guess what's #85 on Stuff White People Like.

Let me know what you thought....

I liked seeing Slim Charles take over the game...always a respectable dude, and seems to have his head right when knowing when to shoot and when not to (see: cutty, cheese)
