The Wire Rewind: Season 5. Episode 9.

Home-Alone.png

I can't believe the shocking surprises this week. If you didn't see it yet here's what you missed:

McNulty got drunk and committed adultery for the 200th time.

Bunk chomped on a cigar.

Daniels took his shirt off and flexed.

Marlo stared into the camera, not blinking

Lester sat watching the wire.

Omar pranced around singing It's a small world.

Of course after last weeks outcry, the real rundown is after the jump.

Holy Crap. What an episode.

We got Lester catching Marlo, Chris, Cheese and company red handed. And with a huge haul of The Greek's heroin everyone's locked up. For now. To celebrate Lester lets loose and ties one on. McNulty can't join him though as his lies are beginning to crack. In fact, once Kima rats him out to Daniels it appears McNulty's up shit's creek.

Lester doesn't stop with Marlo though and, in this episodes best scene, takes Clay Davis to task getting first hand information on who really runs the drug game. The lawyers, especially Levy.

On the Newspaper front, Gus is following leads on the fabrications of reporter Scott Templeton. With each interview he's learning more and more that Scott's full of BS. But will the editors side with Scott or Gus?

Over at the Mayor's office Carcetti and staff step up the pressure on the police to bring down the murder numbers before the Governors primary. The big Marlo drug bust certainly helps everyone's case but for how long?

On the street, Bub's celebrates 1 year of sobriety and begins to place Sherrod's passing behind him.

And with Marlo arrested all the corners are quiet. But there's tension in the air. Marlo wants answers to how he was caught. This leads to the event we all saw coming, Snoop vs. Michael. Snoop fans, myself included, are given a good chunk of Snoop screen time before a memorable last ride with Michael ends her run. The aftershocks of this killing are immediately apparent to Michael. He sends his brother away and dumps Dukie on the street to fend for himself. Something tells me Marlo will have his say in this matter. Will Michael go in to hiding?

Finally we have a few nice cameo's as Colvin and the deacon watch Namond kick ass in a city debate. I have to say they've done an excellent job this season coming back to characters from the first 4 seasons for bit parts, just to catch up. Seeing Pooh working at a shoe store last week was priceless.

Now, I expect the final episode to center on the cops and the press. Fallout of McNulty's lies and Scott Templeton's role in all making up the serial killer. Will McNulty be able to blame the reporter or will the series end with him sharing a cell with Barkstale and Marlo? Separately how far will Lester's investigation of Levy go in just 1 episode. And will Marlo get to take out his revenge with a showdown with Michael?

HBO won't let us find out until the Season Finale this Sunday at 9pm. Tune in!
