Fo anyone (like me) who loved David Cook's performance of Billy Jean last night on American Idol, and who also (like me) hadn't heard this arrangement before, here's Chris Cornell's original version.

For anyone who doesn't already have it- I highly recommend Chris Cornell's Unplugged in Sweden bootleg. He does a great version of this song, some other great covers, some classic Soundgarden / Temple of the Dog, and some improved version of Audioslave songs.

I was pretty fucking impressed when I heard Cook pull that off last night. Thats probably the fifth song I've seen on AI all year and the first from him. So he ripped it off and its not as cool anymore, but it is just a glorified karaoke contest isn't it?

when Seacrest introduced him he said "This is David Cook singing Chris Cornells version of Billie Jean"...

he aint really ripping it off... afterall, all the contestants are singing covers.

I love Soundgarden, Audioslave and Cornell's solo work... but i prefer Cooks rendition of this song.
