Catching up with The Magic Garden
4 Comments

I never cared for Mr. Roger's as a kid, but that's because I loved hippie chicks Paula and Carol. They were the hosts of The Magic Garden which ran locally in New York (WPIX) in the 70s and 80s. It was a trippy show with colorful sets, chuckling flowers, a story box, tree swing and a big tree which housed a bright pink squirrel named Sherlock. Turns out Carole Demas and Paula Janis are still together singing, performing and hawking copies of their old shows.

"...So long. Farewell. I hope you had a good, good time. See ya."

Watching the Watchmen

Zak Snyder has released the first character photos from the Watchmen movie. Still looks like it's going to be both cool, and a faithful adaption of the Alan Moore graphic novel, although I have to say - the image of perfect man Ozymandias isn't quite what I was expecting. (via Transbuddha)

"10,000 B.C." **1/2 (out of four): Writer/Director/Producer Roland Emmerich's latest big budget extravaganza is here. 12,000 years in the making but was it worth the wait?

10kbc_1[1].jpg

With the future picked clean of ideas, writer/director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) takes a step backward… way backward to a time when little recorded history exists (convenient because it makes "historical accuracy" less of an issue) with 10,000 B.C. It might have been nice if he had played fair with geography though (exactly which snowy peaks are a few days hike from the arid Egyptian desert anyway?) and perhaps respected evolutionary zoology (I don't recall seeing over sized man-eating lizard-like ostriches in the nature books). But, hey an artist is allowed to take some liberties, after all, and we can always blame global warming.

You'd have to be drunk already...

I have a 9-year-old who likes to do “experiments”. This means she mixes whatever she can find in the kitchen and/or the bathroom cabinet to see what happens. What happens is usually just a mess to clean up, because she’s not so stupid as to ingest any of her work. If she had access to the liquor (there’s a reason it’s not in the kitchen), she would probably come up with something listed in The Worst Shots Ever Created - 17 Horrible Shots. This article is only for those with a weak imagination or a strong stomach. And that’s just the names! The recipes are included, but they are really disgusting. I won’t put mayonnaise on a sandwich, much less in a shot glass! Have you tried any of these?

Guinness wants to make St. Patty’s Day an official US holiday. My liver agrees. So far over 8,000 people have signed the petition. I wonder how many of them are Al Coholic, I. P. Freely and Jack Daniels?

We Are the World

A group of celebrity impersonators recreate We Are the World for a Japanese talent show. See if you can tell which ones know English and which ones are singing phonetically. Oh yes, put your coffee down before watching.

- Brett, get in here. And bring your brother, Favre. Only in America, kids.
- Finally, a new social networking site for people who have seen ghosts.
- Remember the Dove Evolution spot? So does Foster Farms...cluck here.
- Sure, that ad looks good. But it needs...it needs a good moustaching.
- And if Lindsay can do it, why not Michael Musto? And he looks younger.

Haterade's Idol Anal-ysis (Round of 16 Women) - 3/5/08
0 Comments

For the past 2 weeks on Idol, we've enjoyed the performances of the men, and tolerated the performances of the women. Will we see this trend happen for a third week? Haterade and the Cuckoo Clock let you know if this is the case - and who they think will be gone like the '80's.
