It's a dreary day in Brooklyn but the polls are open and people are voting. The crowds were light, so far, in my neighborhood of Park Slope.
I snapped these photos of my voting experience. Quick, somebody call CNN...
My neighborhood is heavily Democrat - like I said, I live in Brooklyn. It's a mix of progressives, liberals and left of center types with a few scattered Republicans. The Green Party often campaigns here. Usually near my voting spot there's supporters standing at the 100 foot mark trying for that last minute swing vote. Even on a primary day.
I expected to see Hillary supporters on Super Tuesday because the race is tighter and they'd been out in force in Park Slope over the Summer and Fall. But they weren't on my corner. Today there was only 1 Obama supporter as I approached the voting place.
He attracted a few curious Brooklynites.
Turn out was lighter than I expected but since I head to work later than most I could have missed the morning turn out. (Dark photos I know, but I had to turn off the flash so the po-po didn't ask questions.)
A view inside New York's antiquated, lever voting booth. Kucinich, Biden and Edwards are still listed along with Hillary and Barack. Although only Clinton and Obama have delegates you can vote for.
On the voting board each democrat has one column. I didn't snap a photo of it but the Republican candidates are all listed, from top to bottom, in one column on the far right. I kid you not.
It took 5-7 minutes to sign my name, wait in line and cast my vote for Obama. The gym had a few more people by the time I left.
I thought there might be more supporters or signs on the way to the subway but there weren't. I did spot this guy in the station with an Obama sign, handing out literature. He got on the subway with me so I guess he was campaigning on his way to work.
A sample of the health care literature he handed me. A dry, uninteresting read, come Obama campaign, I expected better.

It's amazing to me that a bunch of morons like us at YBNBY can create stupid but professional looking polls to vote for the sexiest celebrity kiss at a moment's notice, yet somehow the US Government can't create a voting interface that looks like it was invented after 1960. What the hell do those things run on - vacuum tubes?
Yeah it looks like what the Others would use to vote for either Ben or Locke as their leader.
This was my first election in New York (Park Slope is representin', motherfuckers), and until today I honestly thought the phrase "Pull the lever" referred to the way people voted in the 50's.
Seriously. There were only about 4 Obama supporters in front of my poll (PS 321) and no one else. The line was quick, but this was about 8:45 AM, so maybe the rush had subsided.
My lady voted a little while after me and said there were 2 Obama supporters outside.
I wonder if the pull lever layout they had with the Republicans pushed to the side held true in other districts like Long Island where there are more GOPers.
