I'm Lost.

Another week...another amazing episode. But other than knowing Kate still likes a good roll in the hay with Sawyer, I'm once again left with more questions than answers. Maybe you all could help me out.

Spoilery questions after the jump.

LostCap1.jpg
Aaron!!! I'm embarassed to say I didn't see it coming. After all, Desmond did tell Charlie he needed to turn off the signal so that Claire and Aaron could get off the island. But then what happened to Claire? Is she one of the eight in Jack's story who survived the crash? And why doesn't Jack want to see Aaron? Isn't he Aaron's uncle...half-uncle? (I forget...does Jack know Claire is his half-sister, yet?) Oh, and technically, is Aaron one of the Oceanic Six?

Catch the book Sawyer was reading? The Invention of Morel...about an island with the main character Morel creating a machine to reproduce reality. Think that has any significance, especially when we're on anisland that can make dead fathers, horses, and mental facility roommates appear out of thin air, and also make cabins appear and dissappear with ease?

Is Ben the Economist? Or, remember the whole "twins" theory from a couple seasons ago. Is it Ben's twin that was stitching up Sayid at the end of last week's episode? Also, in this week's Entertainment Weekly interview, the producer's mention Ben could be one of the Oceanic Six if he had stolen a passenger's identity. Was that a red herring? Or is Ben number six?

So Faraday has some sort of memory problem. I knew something was wrong with him from one of the fan sites I read, where they mentioned the woman speaking with him in his flashback a couple episodes ago was listed in the credits as Faraday's "caretaker". Also, whenever I play Texas Hold'em, I need to keep looking back at my two cards because I forget what they are. Does that mean I'm as messed up as he is? But back to the questions...is there any significance to Faraday's memory issues?

Miles...Miles...Miles. I've liked this guy ever since he was Junior's looney bin roommate on the Sopranos. But why extort Ben for exactly 3.2 million. I'm thinking it's just because he's a little odd. But maybe there's some significance. And how would Ben get the scratch? Grab one of the suits and some cash from the James Bond room and teleport to the Federal Reserve? And once again...why is someone out there going to great lengths to find Ben. Oh...and Locke is officially nuts.

And by the way, what's going on with the Others? Their leader has been held captive for a few days now. And the group that went to get the pregnant mothers in last season's finale all got killed. You'd think they would've left that temple by now and started looking for some payback.

And on a completely unrelated topic...this is an old question, but did we ever learn why the Dharma Initiative created something that needed a code to be punched in every 108 seconds? And why it doesn't need the code anymore?

i saw the aaron thing from a mile away, she said she wasnt pregnant. baby theif

i think that book deal was just the producers taking advantage of lost fans' interest in detail, or just to try and be ironic

i feel like i need to read that book now, ha

They don't have to put the numbers in the machine anymore because it exploded when they didn't put the numbers in. That explosion (end of Season 2) seems to be what gave Desmond the ability to predict Charlie's death.

No, we never found out what the machine was, but the observation hatch they found made it seem that Dharma was using it to observe the "rats in a cage" reactions of the people they put in the hatch. Also, as evidenced by the way everything metal went flying like in a Wile E. Coyote cartoon when the numbers weren't put in, there seemed to be some huge magnetic field being generated/controlled/whatever by the machine.

Maybe this isn't Claire's Aaron...maybe he belongs to Kate and Sawyer and was named after Aaron.

This show is FUBAR. I see no way they can wrap all this up in a nice neat package by 2010. Do we know what the smoke monster is yet?

The one question you forgot is, "Where the hell can I get one of those big Dharma coffee mug / beer stein things that Kate and Claire were drinking coffee out of?"

I thought that by destroying the hatch with the 108 second counter device at the end of Season 2, the machine that needed the code had also been destroyed.

one other thing no one seems to have caught (while on the subject of books in the show) was the book that Locke put on the tray for Ben at the start...it was VALIS by Philip K Dick and heres the start of the wikipedia entry: VALIS is a 1981 science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick. The title is an acronym for Vast Active Living Intelligence System, Dick's gnostic vision of one aspect of God.

enjoy

Tabasco,

Great point. One other question. Why was this episode called "eggtown" and why was Locke killing a chicken in his house?

I get the feeling that Locke is trying to create his own religious cult known as the Church of Jacob.

I might be misunderstanding you but you ask if claire is one of the 8 survivors that jack mentions. that's just a lie that the Oceanic 6 decided to tell the public after they came back.
i do beleive that Aaron is Claire's kid and that he should be counted in the O 6. i think that she was in some situation where she probably had to decided to save Aaron and sacrifise herself.

BTW I think that Lost has only gotten better. and im glad that they have a definite time frame. i bet they already know how they will end it
