I recently learned of two new online services. One's pretty cool. The other is a bit retarded.
Catalog Choice lets you cancel the Pottery Barn, Red Envelope and Crate & Barrel junk mail piling up in your recycle bin. Al Gore couldn't be more pleased.
And Dominos Pizza Tracker lets you know, within nanoseconds, how long it will be until you medium pepperoni, onion and anchovi with extra cheesy bread will be at your door.
I'll let you guess which is which.

The pizza tracker isn't a bad idea, but it's over done. I don't care about how long it took some high schooler to put 22 pepperoni slices on my pizza. But I am interested in knowing when my pizza left the store. It lets me know to get my money ready and keep the volume on the TV down so I can hear the knocking and lock up the cat so she doesn't run out the door when I open it, etc. So, I think a simple pop-up window on the Dominos website telling me that the pizza is out for delivery would be just fine. Again, a good idea, but like so many things in this world, it's over-engineered.
