Is it me, or is cable tv getting better and better? With shows like Rescue Me, Damages, The Riches, Sunny in Philadelphia and Mad Men filling up my DVR, it's not like I had room for anything else. But then I watched the first three episodes of Breaking Bad. Holy crap, can you say dark? You guys had me at lung cancer, but the Harvey Keitel-esque disposal of murder victims...that secured it's spot as must see television for me...good stuff.
If anyone's been watching, I'd be interested to hear what you think. And if you haven't watched, you can see the first two episodes here. Or check out some of Walt's Wisdom for a bit of the show philosophy.

If they can keep it up by far the best show on TV, and far more entertaining, intense, and interesting than 90% of the movies that come out.
When I first saw the promos for it I was stunned. I couldn't believe that Malcom's Dad could be so dark. I ended up watching the first episode with my wife and mother-in-law. Needless to say she did not find the episode apropriate.
I absolutely love this show. One of the best shows I've seen in the last few years. Bryan Cranston's performance as the tragic chemistry teacher is amazing.
I waver on whether it's really good, or just Weeds that takes itself too seriously.
But overall, I really enjoy it, so I will definitely keep watching and see where it goes!
Just got caught up from my DVR.
The show is fascinating, just in the way it throws moral dilemmas at Walter, and the way it is staying focused on what is a fairly narrow range of time. At the same time though, I look at it and wonder whether some good editing could transform it into a proper feature film. (Like, what was the point of the sister-in-law's shoplifting episode?)
Am I cubbyholing the show, or am I cubbyholing the Coen Brothers by saying this seems like one of their projects?
One quibble, but maybe it's a New Mexico thing: Around my part of the country, teachers have gold-plated health insurance. Walter's request to get dropped off at a corner from the ambulance didn't fly.
