1 Week down, and Haterade is starting strong. He gets both women and had one of the guys in the trouble section. So what happened - and who does he think could be next? Click on the column and find out...
1 week in, and we've had some impressive performances from the guys. The women's efforts were ok, but I hear one more excuse of 'it was the flu', I will be ill - and not because of the flu. The women were easy to predict - the men, not as much, but hopefully, the bottom section of guys will improve. There were some good efforts, but the men as a whole were stronger.
So what let's see who performed the best - and who needs to perform like their musical career is on the line.
The 12 Women
OUT
Amy Davis
Bad song choice. Bad performance. No screen time. Aloha means goodbye.
Joanne Borgella
We always start with the people leaving. Joanne left because not only did no female R & B singer sang worse than she did, but she sang bland and forgettable - no-nos. If you think about it, you knew she would be in trouble when she said she sang at Madison Square Garden, home of the Knicks, who have been playing like the New York Knishes.
Ranked in order of Opinion
Syesha Mercado
Though each performance had it's downside, this one had the least of it. Shes got a great voice with a great song selection. She's definitely safe this week, and barring disaster, will make the Top 12.
Asia'h Epperson
She had one of the better song choices. She should also be very safe this week. Now can she also get into pop and snag more votes?
Alexandrea Lushington
That was the best song selection of the night. She needed a great performance and delivered. If she can belt out a challenging song, then you can lock her into the Top 12 as well.
Ramiele Malubay
She may have the best natural tone in the whole competition. She chose a demanding song - maybe too demanding - but she had flashes of brilliance. She just needs to select a less ambitious song and sing the snot out of it.
Alaina Whitaker
She needed to show up, and she did. Quite nicely, I may add. What else can she do? My advice is to select either country or rock and knock someone out who struggled in that genre last week.
Carly Smithson
She sang 'ok' in the last position, but 'ok' may not be good enough. She's not in immediate danger, but she does need to sing in such a way so she can justify all of the screen time she has gotten so far.
Amanda Overmyer
That was as bad of a song selection as you could have possibly sung. You almost paid for it dearly. The only reason why you arent in my bottom two is because of screen time, but that will change, and change quickly, if you select another esoteric song that doesn't display your vocal range.
Kady Malloy
I actually enjoyed your performance. That being said, you're in a weird position. You haven't sang as good as the people with no screen time, but you've sang better than the other pop chicks with the screen time. That makes you vulnerable and I fear you may have to hit a home run this week in order to stick around.
Kristy Lee Cook
You and Amanda are in the same boat. you're lower because whereas Amanda just had a bad song, you had bth a bad song and performance. Add the fact that you have a backlash against you in the internet, and you absolutely must produce, or be the biggest bust since David Brown in Idol 4.
Brooke White
You don't have the screen time of the others and you got outsang last week by your main competition. You must outsing them this week or you're going home.
The 12 Men
OUT Colton Berry
I can imagine this playing out in a Samurai Movie. You! You did not sing up to your potential! And it was you who stopped Kyle from appearing on the show! You must pay! This would be complete with Ashley Simpson-style bad lip synching sound effects.
Garrett Haley
The problem with all of these young singers that the kids love to text for is that sometimes, you have a glut of them. When this happens, the kidlets usually stop voting for the ones who sing bad first. That, Garrett, was you, despite your hair giving housewives all across the nation 80's hair flashbacks.
Ranked in order of Opinion
David Archuleta
Michael Johns may be the favorite, but you have the complete package. As long as the vocal chords hold up, you should be sailing into the Top 12.
Michael Johns
The swooner of housewives everywhere. Easily has the best polished voice in the competition. Let's hear him sing something this week that he didn't sing during Hollywood.
David Cook
His stock shot up the greatest during week #1. I really liked what he did for 'Happy Together'. I want to know more about the creativity. What else do you got, David?
Robbie Carrico
A solid light rock performance, which is nice. He's pop-rock lite, like Constantin Maroulis. And just like Constantin, he'll get into trouble if he goes into heavy rock., Don't do it. You've been warned.
Jason Castro
He sings great when he has a guitar....or should I say his guitar sounds great over his pitch, which was shaky. He's up there because his style is unique, but he still must produce with a song that his guitar can't cover. Not a lock by any means.
Danny Noriega
Vote For The Worst voted him because he can perform wildly and has the most personality. Yet that's why he's up this high. He gave one of th best performances of the night. He can go very far if he can restrain just a smidge and select something that he can wrap his voice around and sing.
Chikezie Eze
He was in the bottom for a reason. he has to get younger and realize that the point of the competition is to not wrap into the theme, but to get people's votes. Actually singing well wouldn't hurt.
David Hernandez
Out of the bottom 4, he probably has the best performance. He also has the personality of an eggplant. He needs something to show off his vocals or he could be leaving this week.
Jason Yeager
The Making the Band appearnce certainly helped. So did the props to his family. now he has to perform this week or he's out, and Puff Diddy will be laughing at him from his high posh offices.
Luke Menard
Don't start thinking you're around because your performance was memorable. You're only still on the show because you could only get rid of 2 people, and Garrett and Jason were not great. If you don't select a better song this week, you're next.
That's what I'm thinking right now. We'll see if any of them listen or pay the penalty this week.
