"U2 3D" *** (out of four): Thanks to some impressive - and vastly-improved - 3D technology, this concert film, documenting the "Vertigo" tour, is about as close as you'll get to being on stage with U2.

To some extent, 3D technology requires larger-than-life subject matter. Hence the reason you tend to find IMAX 3D movies about climbing Everest or diving to the ocean depths. There's little point, for example, in a 3D version of "Office Space". While other recent mainstream 3D efforts ("The Polar Express", "Beowulf"), have featured animated subjects, "U2 3D" is a full-length concert movie documenting the Irish band's "Vertigo" tour. This is a case of subject and technology happily coexisting. For once, the technology adds to the material, instead of the material being an excuse to use the technology. U2 is already a dynamic (at times over-the-top) presence, and the 3D technique - which is a new variant being used here for the first time in feature-length - only enhances that. Thanks to this impressive - and vastly-improved - technology (yes, you still need the glasses), "U2 3D" is about as close as you'll get to being on stage with U2.
MSNBC is reporting Heath Ledger has been found dead in his Manhattan apt. Apparently, the housekeeper found the body, surrounded by pills all over the floor.
Can't find any other news yet.

Apparently, the third anniversary is "leather". i never knew that, but somehow it seems vaguely appropriate for us on our third aniversary. I wanted to reach out thank a few people who've contributed to YBNBY over the years:
Plus the 20 or so other writers that have come and gone, or are still here and have contributed over the years. Plus all the rgulars who come by every day and leave comments. it's the comments we get that really make this worthwhile.
Jellio actually slightly underestimated our stats in his previous post. According to our hosting provider, we've served just over 40 million pageviews in the three years since we started:

Let's hope that growth curve continues. We have some big ideas in store for 2008, so stick around,
Best use of the phrase "Under Construction" goes to....
I’m not sure if this should be considered NSFW, since there are no women in it and the guys keep their pants on. But... it’s going to cause a little cognitive dissonance. I mean really, it’s just a friendly little game of basketball!
Today on BrewTube - Sleepy Politicians
It doesn't happen as often as he'd like. So you need to continue reading to commemorate the momentous occasion.
The stock market has apparently scheduled a crash for today. Normally, these things can’t be so easily pinpointed, but yesterday was a holiday here in the US and not the rest of the world, so we'll see the effects here today. The day trader above lost $40,000 of his $55,000 fund on Sunday (oh yeah, language NSFW). His Monday video contains a little more explanation (but its long). More links here. So get ready to watch the fireworks. You may want to keep a hanky or a puke bucket ready if you have some investments. If not, well, I guess it’s a good day to be poor.
(Thanks, Jan!)
It was three years ago today,
Scaramouch sat down to play.
I'll create a site filled with style,
Filled with articles to make you smile.
So lets turn back the clock,
And see how it all began,
For the one and only YesButNoButYes.
Yes, our little site is three years old today. And it seems like only yesterday, when we were all sitting around wondering if people would come to a site filled with streakers, porn stars and innapropriate comics. Nearly 12 million visitors later, I think we have our answer. Here are the posts that started it all...
- On January 22, 2005, Scaramouch posted the very first article on an all-flash Rubik. And we've been talking about all sorts of toys, ever since.
- Two days later on the 24th, Evil Richard posted Serial Killer Art Review, which started our tradition of covering the fine arts.
- On 1/25, Aquaman chimed in on an unfortunate accident involving seat belts, and the student who spoke out against them
- And later that day, I posted my first product review for the I Did Not Vote For Bush bracelet, thinking..you know, I'll bet in three years this political shit is really gonna get to Keeter.
...and the rest is history.
(PS: Apologies to the anonomous posters. If anyone remembers who they were, please feel free to add their names to the comments.)
